7-08AI vs 6.5x47L

The 47 is accurate but no more so than the 08 once it's developed for accuracy. The 260, 6.5 creedmore or 6.5-284 are also top of there class in accuracy. Less recoil in the 6.5-47 for sure than the 7-08. The
The 7-08, 260 and the 6.5 Creedmoor have yet to produce any world records. The 6.5-284 has a few but has been largely abandoned in favor of a less over bore parent case called the 284. Exactly how do you prove what you just said?

I've been wondering about the performance of these two carts compared to each other. Capacity seems close, performance should be about equal with say 130 in the 6.5 and 140 in the 7, but has anyone put these two up against each other to determine if there is an obvious edge to one of the other?

I know Lapua brass for the 6.5 being small primer is ideal, but 7AI brass can be made from Lapua Palma brass as well. Cost advantage to the 7 with inexpensive domestic brass.

I really want a 6.5x47, but got to thinking and am curious about it now...
I have 2 6.5x47 and I have never had any gun that shoots as good as these. they are killers @ 1000yds and if wind not to bad I shoot all day @ 1400yds. of course I only shoot bergers!

Experience. It's not about proof, it's about seeing all the cartridges in use. They are all equally accurate cartridges each with their own advantage. That's why so many people have their favorite. Yours just happens to be the 47. Mine is the 6.5-284 of the 6.5s. My good friend shoots the 6.5-47 and it's a great cartridge. He likes it over all the 6.5s. It's all about choice. I prefer the 284 over all of them.

How many of David Tubb's 11 Highpower championships were won with the 7-08? I know he used it at one time. That tells me a lot about this cartridge.

I believe the prefers the 6mm species. Never saw him behind anything else. Yes I don't believe personally the 7-08 is a match cartridge however there are a few members here using them and taking home top finishes. Even with the heavy 180s.

one I believe. no doubt the 6.5x47 is phenomenal. got rid of my 6 BRX stuff after shooting the 6.5. My 12 year old shot a 1k record of 200-16x with the 6.5x47L. That said ,he is shooting a 7-08 for 1k this year because it has much better wind drift with a little more recoil. so far, it has proven to be very accurate.

I believe I read somewhere once that Mr Tubb liked the 7-08 for silhouette competition
