6x47L Help.

Does anyone or could anyone send or have a step by step process for necking down the 6.5x47L to 6x47L?
I finally got some brass and I guess I'm doing something wrong?
When I run the brass through my 6x47L die, I am only able to size a small part of the neck.
My dies are Redding type S match full length dies.
My neck is .270 so I have a .267 bushing in the sizer die.

First time sizing a case down so I'm asking for help.
Been reloading for 25yrs so I'm not scared of it. Just no experience doing it.
Thank y'all any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sam.

Use a non bushing die! Then you don't have to worry about it. If you must use a bushing style then try flipping the bushing over so the bevel side is up. That will help size down the neck further. They should be necked down the neck far enough to allow slight resistance upon bolt closure. BTW it only takes one pass.

If your chamber neck diameter is .270", you need to be about .267" loaded diameter, which means you should be using a .264" bushing. You should be using a body die or full length die to size the cases from 6.5 to 6mm. Check your loaded diameter.

That's what I was getting at. If the neck diameter is .270 a tighter bushing is needed. Matt

Thanks yall and yes my chamber neck is .270, I know I will be over or very tight with a loaded round.
I have the tools coming in today or tomorrow from K&M to turn the necks, I also have a .266 bushing, should I try that one and check the loaded round before I
attempt the neck turning process? (That may end up another topic I put on here asking questions about)

And 22Dasher after I turned the bushing over I necked down several cases and they all worked in both rifles I was able to close the bolts with just a very small amount of resistance. just wanted to say thanks again..

You will need to turn your necks to about .012" thickness. This will give you a minimum clearance of .0015" on each side and a total loaded neck diameter of .267". Your bushing size should then be a 265 or more likely a 264. I wouldn't run a 266 because that will only give you .001 neck tension.

we are building new 6x47 laupa and I use a forester fl die and have no problem necking down new brass. one time pass and you are done. the new barrel was to be a no-turn neck but it was a little tighter than I wanted so I neck turned all brass to .013 and now they are prefect.

When I did mine, I just purchased a Redding Type "S" FL die for future re-prepping brass, but I don't like to using bushing dies to neck down the 6.5 brass. I just used one of my 6BR dies set up high for the correct headspace & that worked very well.
