6x47 Lapua loads with RL16

Finally managed to get my hands on the elusive RL16. Looking far any and all reloading info for my 6x47 Lapua, running a Berger 105 VLD. Starting loads to max info would be great. No luck doing a search. Thanks in advance. Let the games begin. Lol.

Hodgdon shows 34.9 gr. of H4350 to a max. of 39.5. Reloader 16 is in that burn range. Start low and work up and watch primers.

I’d start at around 39.6 and find node somewhere between 40-41gr. R16 is bulky for the 47 case so you may find it helpful to use a long drop tube or vibrate cases to settle powder.

I think you will need the long drop tube and they will still be compressed. Don't have my notes here, I had pretty good luck with RL16, but it is bulky. I'll be watching this thread.

Shot a non tuned ( just loaded and shot) relay @ 600 at Hurlburt AFB Sunday using RL16 and 105 VLD’s 5thou off the lands. When I say non tuned all I did was load ten @39.0 and shot them @100yds. 3053fps w/ single digit SD & ES
The relay score was197-11x. I was trying H4350 with 105’s and 110 SMK with RL 16 on the other two relays.
Going to work up some more w the 105’s and RL16.

Wes, try those 105 VLDs 12 thousandths INTO the lands. I have found, almost exclusively, that that is their "sweet spot". Obviously, that can not be a HARD / FAST rule>>>>but it works most of the time..

Ok, I go 38.5 RL-16 with the 110 Sie, with a max of 39.3 which was showing light signs of pressure. My go to load is 38.2 of 4451 with a Berger 105 HY. I have not tried the 105/RL-16 combo, sorry. Both are off the lands. Hope this helps.

Did this in the Dasher with “great” results!
RL 16 works great in the 6MM realm and I thought would hold up in 6x5, just not quite as well IME.
