6x47 Lapua first loads

Well I just finished up my 6x47Lapua yesterday and loaded up some 90g Berger bullets. I did not have much Varget or H4350 on hand so I figured I would try some of the AR-Comp powder since I had a couple pounds of it laying around. It supposed to be close to the Varget burn rate so I started at 33g and worked up to 35.2g and still did not see any pressure signs. The wind was terrible today while shooting so I am kinda impressed that it shot as good as it did. It is a savage pre AccuTrigger (trigger in this thing is horrible, probably 4-5 lbs) McGowan barrel and Choate stock.

If you know your way around a trigger, those pre-accutrigger's are easy to stone and damn nice after they're tuned. I VERY VERY MUCH prefer them over a Timney.

Order a sear and a trigger shoe from brownells or midway or wherever and try to stone yours, this way if you mess up you'll have a replacement ;)

Don't need to stone much and polishing it after stoning is like the cherry on the cake.

If you aren't comfortable around triggers then nevermind my post :D

Good Shooting !

That's exactly what I plan to do but just have not got around to doing it yet. I have several of the pre AccuTrigger that I have worked to be good triggers.

Did a little work on the trigger last night and got it down to just over a pound. Will try to get it out this weekend and see what it will do.
