Newbie 6x47 lapua question

Hey guys, this is my first post here; i have browsing for a while tho. I am currently building a 6x47 lapua and was wondering if anybody had load data for 85-87gr. bullets. Would R-22 be a good powder to start with. I don't like to have a bunch of differn't ones laying around and currently use varget for all my handloads. Also would it be better to use a magnum primer.

Thanks!!

The CCI 450 Mag. primer is reccomended for the 6 X 47. I have not had any reason to try anything different in my 6 X 47 but some say the regular CCI 400 SRP will work fine. Bill

thanks for the info guys. My smith says to use the slowest burning powders and was just curious if any one had tried any with lighter bullets. i'll proly try varget and H4350 or maybe R-19.

I posted 6X47L loads for 70-95gr bullets a while back on this forum. Do a search. N550 produced good velocity and groups. H-4831SC was too slow burning to produce the best velocities with bullets in this weight range, so doubt if R22 would be a good choice. I haven't tested in temperatures below 50F. At higher temperatures, primers haven't been a issue. F205M, R7-1/2, and CCI 450's all worked just fine. Vic

I'm shooting the 95Ber and I'm using CCI450 and RL-15.

I shot some of the 87Vmax's with RL-15 and had great luck.
This round like a little higher pressure.

So far I'm in my 6th reloading on the brass.

Very easy to load for.

how many grains of r-15 do shoot? Do u know what the veocity wuz on those 87's. i'm plammimg on tring the 87gr. bthp. i dont really like plastic tips.

For the 95Ber I'm using 37.5gr of RL-15. They are running over the crony at 3400.
They are getting me to 1k with 20min of up. If atm conditions are right.

I think I was running the 87's to 3400+ but don't remember.
Last year I won a gift-cert from Berger. I tried the 95s in my br and they didn't work. But I thought I'd try them again.
Well they love my 6x47 and that's all I've shot since.

With the 87's they were poc-marking my AR-500 targets at 300. The only other round that will do that is my 20Tac.
Speed kills.

I run this round pretty hot so work up to this.

Cool. I pretty much had my mind set on a 243ai untill I started looking at the 6x47 lapua; pretty impressive. The only reason i was going with the 243ai wuz becase the 6x284 was a real powder burner for a hummer, but the 6x47 seems to be the all around total package. Efficient, accurate, and fast; it definatly caught my attention. I ordered a 1 in 10 twist so i hope it will shoot the 87's pretty good, if not then the hevier the better.

I too am building a 6x47L, rather Dave Bruno is building it, I am just paying :-) For the same reasons you sited. I had a custom 6AI and loved it but hated fireforming. With this you get almost the same vel I hope, 75gr aprox 3600. Got mine in a 1-10 also so can shoot up to 100 gr in it. Ordered in december and still waiting so hope it works well. I will be keeping an eye out for load data here also and hope they create a 6x47L page in the forum of it's own soon.
