6x45or 6x47?? which to build??

x2 on the 6TCU in a bolt gun. 6x45 easier to form with just 1 pass in the die, load and shoot. 6TCU needs to be fireformed. just 1 extra step.

I went with a 6X45 because I already had alot of .223 brass and with just one pass in a 6x45 FL die presto you have a 6X45 ready to load and shoot. I just removed one of my Rem 700 .223 barrels and rechambered a 10 twist 6X45 barrel, and I have been shooting 26 grains of 2015 behind a 58g Vmax bullet with excellent accuracy. Mine feeds excellent out of the Rem 700 box magazine which is another reason I did mine on a Rem 700 action. I like it alot.

I built another PD gun around the 58g zmax/vmax because they were so cheap, 12 cents a pop for a decent 6mm varmint bullet, are you kidding me? I bought a barrel's worth. Hoping to get 3300 out of it. Seems like much above that on 6mm's you start having barrel wear/dirtiness issues. Its all about the total cost per round for me now, I played the barrel burner game, its fun while it lasts, but 20-35 cents a round barrel wear get$ old fa$t.

I know you've focused on the 6x45 or 6x47 but don't forget to look at the 6mm AI. Same bullets, cost effective brass but in terms of velocity, I've read articles of individuals that talk about velocities up to 4,000 feet per second.

They like to talk about the "mist effect" it has on varmints.

I love mine, it's probably one of the most accurate rifles I have.

If you like 6mms you'd fall in love with a 6mm BR Rem. My riflesmith built one for himself for a pdog hunt. With his own bullets he shot a .035" group at 100 yards. I stopped by there yesterday and demanded to see the target. I couldn't discern the holes without a 20 power loupe. If it were any other man I'd swear it was only 3 shots.
The best I've been able to get out of mine is .120. It's probably capable of better groups in benchrest shooter's hands.

I definitely wouldn't fall in love with having to buy 1000+ 6BR cases for high volume varminting, which is why 223 based 6mm's are so appealing.
