6SLR questions

I have been shooting one since Roberts article came out years ago and Ill always have a 6SLR in my safe and I might even ad a 25SLR.
If I feel girly I can run it at the same level as a XC or Creedmoor and if I feel froggy I can really step on it especially if im hunting with it .

Sako 243 brass, N160 and 108gr Hornady/Bergers or 110gr Atips and have at it

Basically a large 6BR and all of mine has been very accurate and easy to load for

If you want to be like everyone else get a 6Creedmoor and buy brass off the shelve, if you want to learn something new and shoot something different get a SLR.

I have used and tested all available 243 brass and I have never had to ream anything inside a neck

Unless you require BR accuracy I don't see how people kill barrels in 2000 rounds, I have cleaned 1000y Fclas targets with way more rounds down barrels then that.

I shot the SLR for several years and really liked it. The round does not seem to like the SRP brass and like you have been reading is picky about the kind of brass to use. I used WW LRP brass, and it worked great I always neck turn my brass just to "Clean" it up an make it all the same thickness. I started of using H4831 and it shot great and was easy to load for. I then went to H1000 with my second barrel, and it shot really well also. The thing I noticed about the H1000 was that I got about a 1/3 more barrel life out of it. Like was mentioned on here earlier the 6 Creed and the XC run pretty close to the SLR but with the heavies the SLR is the way to go. To save yourself a lot of heartache I would just stay with the WW brass and LRPs....

To add to what @Raptor posted, I have also been shooting the SLR since it's development and always followed the recommendation to use W-W brass. As a sling shooter, I was stuck in the 194-197 score range and couldn't get past it. Made the switch to Lapua brass and have now shot multiple cleans with no other changes. Some folks would dismiss that as not the reason, but I'll let you decide.

Sounds great. My only concern in today's world would be the quality of newly manufactured WW brass. Is it any good or do we need to look at a different brand of brass?

Sako brass gents, Sako brass
I have used and tried them all, Sakos where its at for ease of use and quality

If you want to go Lapua just speck your reamer for a tight neck as you will need to turn allot of brass but its doable, I went through 2 barrels with 100 pieces of Lapua brass and they are still good

Lapua Brass sized and neck turned before firing
