6SLR questions

Less/smaller than 243.

It slightly pushes the shoulders down and makes a longer neck. I think it is just over a grain less capacity.

To be clear, 6mm SLR shoulder angles are changed from 20° to 30° by rotating the angle at the body-shoulder junction. The body-shoulder dimension is not changed. It does have a little less capacity than a .243 but seems able to obtain the same velocity.

Thanks Steve...much better way of saying it.

back to the question, do the guys shooting it have custom seaters or can you use an off the shelf version?

Hard to find a Wilson type seater. But a regular screw in seater you can get at Whidden or 6mmar.com

I use my old comp 243 seater and i have no complains.

Lots of guys using h4350. Burns up barrels quicker, but you get excellent velocities.

What do you guys use to seat primers? Some of mine go easy some hard ,does this make a difference with accurecy?I use a Lee and a RCBS hand primer.Do you drill all primer pockets out to the same?

I have a question about the SLR. .I got my dies in today and they are the redding comp match set ( FL sizer and comp seater) the sizer doesn't have a bushing in it ..my question is do they take a regular " neck sizer " bushing?

From my experience with Winchester brass, the .268 is too small unless you're turning necks. .270, .271, and .272 are the ones to start with.

I sure hope Caleb and Rmint ordered your Reamer with a big enough neck. My last two batches of Winchester brass has a Overal neck diameter of .272 with a bullet seated. My reamer is .274 and I wish it was .275 or even better .276 with the current crop of brass available...001 on each side is not a whole lot and really not a lot for my liking since we are not shooting benchrest here.
I am finding out the older I get.. that tight neck clearance really does nothing for the accuracy that I am looking for. Im not trying to shoot a 1/2 Group at 1000 yards here... That would be cool but not my goal.

Just a thought fellas... Best of luck to you both.

Good. For some reason Brass is getting thicker in the neck by Winchester. Have not checked the Federal or Remington brass as it seems still pretty hard to find 243 brass other than Lapua for some time.
Again best of luck to you.

I hope so too. Its a pain in the Arse if you don't do it a lot. Ijust did 100 pieces last week. So now I have done a total of 300 pieces. THat is a lot of turning... What a freakin pain. Its done now though.

I'm shooting sling from position, refuse to neck turn. My reamer was too small in the neck so I had to order a neck reamer to open it up. ~$75.00.

We gonna talk if the ever send me another neck-turn reamer, of course, now I know to ask when I order another.
