6PPC primers with LT32

A long time shooting friend of mine is 'making' me buy a benchrest rifle from him. 'Making' as is making me an offer I can't refuse. :)

He has load data for it but uses mostly unobtainium powder, T32. As I am new to benchrest I have many other things to concentrate on so I am planning to start simple and use LT32 and Berger 65 or 68gr bullets.

I am looking for primer recommendations for that powder and those bullets., especially if you have load data for that powder and either of those bullets.

I have a bunch of CCI 450's but I'm not sure that would be the best primer for 6PPC for organized Benchrest shooting. I do use them in my 6BR and 5.56 so they will not go to waste.

Thanks!

I corrected some spelling errors.

His load data even from last week if you had his powder jug isnt going to do you much good. Gotta start new each time the temp/humidity changes so dont fret about his powder. Start with a load a couple grs less than usual and go from there

I agree with what Dusty posted above.

As far as primers, I won't say the 450's won't work. But from my experience with the PPC's I'd definitely have some BR4s and some GM205M handy. And a question back to you, were those Berger bullets you mentioned in your original post the same ones that were used (and I assume proven) by its previous owner? Good luck with it. WD

If you are shooting LT in a bonafide BR gun you will probably end up between 28 & 28.4 gains . Some guns will shoot well in that 27.5-28 range .

Dusty, It is not a question of powder, I do not have access to the powder he uses. It is the old, original T32. He has known Eric for years so he can get stuff that I can't.

He uses the 65 Bergers, yes.

Yep, bonafide BR gun, BAT 3l action, Kreiger barrels, McMillan Stock, Jewell (eh, but ok) trigger.

Is 28 to 28.4 gr for LT32? What primers?

No i mean even if you HAD his exact powder it wont be the same this week thats what i was getting at- load data on a ppc changes every day all day. Most br shooters dont even try to keep data notes so youll have to get your own data for the target youre going to shoot then tweak it after lunch. May be seating depth may be powder- youll get a feel for it once you see what your changes do with your components

205's are fine. Lou Murdica( the godfather of LT powders) has posted on BRC that he has gone a whole season of matches with the same load which I believe was 28.4.
Remember this was an older lot so play within that range and then, mostly, leave it.

Pretty sure Bill Forester won the Super Shoot and got in the benchrest HOF shooter WSRs. Could be wrong, but that's what I'm told. He's probably not the only one.
