6ppc chamber questions

Ok, I know I have been going about this wrong but it is working for me so far..
I bought a 6PPC barrel for my T/C Encore rifle and it has an unknown neck size. Someone gave me 50 6ppc USA Sako brass and I got some regular RCBS 6PPC dies. I resized the Sako brass and have been using them but I suspect I should be using properly formed Lapua brass. Since I am unable to get a straight answer on what size neck this chamber has can I go by my fireformed brass? All of my necks on my fired brass measure .268
How does that equate to properly use Lapua brass? I am getting really great accuracy but I suspect my brass is wearing out so I want to do this right this time around. Any help is appreciated, I've never had to turn necks before.

The neck diameter of the fired case will typically be approx .001 less than the neck diameter of your chamber. You may want to try some Norma 6 PPC.USA brass. It will have a loaded neck diameter of approx .266. If you choose to use Lapua 220 Russian brass, you are going to have to turn the necks of your cases.

Order some Cerrosafe from Brownells and do a chamber cast. That takes the guess work out. It comes with instructions and you can reuse it over and over. Then go to Mike Bellm's website... bellmtcs.com and get some instructions on loading for a break open. Mike can be pretty dogmatic and has been know to irritate folks, but I've found he knows what he's talking about.

That would be a good start, better than guessing. I really have had great accuracy so far, averaging in the low .2's but found a cracked neck recently and looking to replace my questionable brass. I will do a chamber cast and take it from there. I'm sure I'll need more help when I order bushing dies and try to figure out what bushings I need. This cartridge is super fun to shoot. I'd just like to make it as easy to load as all my other standard calibers.

You will want to send three pieces of fired, not sized, brass to Harrell's Precison. They will send you the right bushing die for your chamber. They will include an invoice and you can either send the die back ot the $$. You will want a bushing probably ,003 smaller than your loaded round. That would be a good start anyway. Seems like the die will be around $70 more or less.
