Sako & 6ppc brass

I am hoping a few here can chime in with some info on these Sako 6ppc rifles and the brass they have used. I am wondering on the rifles chambered in the 6ppc if you should use the Sako 6ppc brass? Not sure if the chambers cut for these would be cut for the necks of the Sako ppc brass? I got out of neck turning as i pretty much just varmint hunt. So..... i do not have any equiptment to turn necks anymore. I purchased the ppc hunter Vixen here to varmint hunt with and boy is she a little beauty ;D I am needing to round up some stuff i need for it to reload as some years ago i sold off my dies and stuff for that caliber. I may have found some Sako 6ppc brass on the Sako forum site but not sure. Does Norma or Lapua make the Sako 6ppc brass and is this stuff still in production?

I have an older Sako 6PPC USA single shot rifle and the chamber in mine is a little larger then a competition chamber and also a larger neck diameter. Sako used to supply brass for these guns, not sure if they still do. As of last year Norma was making 6PPC USA brass and it seems to be good quality stuff but I'm sure it will work in your gun.

Norma is still making 6PPC brass , and to my knowledge they make the 6PPC Sako brass as well . They are the standard 6PPC USA chamber dimension which is a bit sloppy when compared to a custom chamber . I shoot my single shot Sako A-1 rifle in factory class bench and it shoots very well . I've been using the Sako brass , but most recently switched over to Lapua 220 Russian , turned the necks , fireformed , and was delighted to see an immediate improvement in my groups . For p-dogging , either brand will shoot great . Just a bit more work with the Lapua brass .

Is the Lapua brass then needing the necks cut down a tad in order to work in these chambers? If so then the Sako ppc USA brass is what i am needing. I am going to order the Wilson stainless micrometer seater die and wondering if you fellows are just neck sizing these and when needed full length sizing and bumping the shoulders back. What type dies are you all using? I was thinking of getting the full length size die with neck bushing. Anyone using 1 of these and are they working well?

I just picked up sako 75 6ppc-usa varmint yesterday from ffl, found it on gun broker. It still had grease in barrel and chamber, guy said he thought it was unfired and I was happy to see that it was, estate sale. The day I bought it I found 200 norma brass and new redding dies here, my lucky day. My research says 12 twist, phamplet with gun shows 70 gr hpbt as only load from sako. I think you can find some brass on site, seems someone else had some for sale that same day. Amazing group, going to load today and start break in tomorrow. Good luck with yours.

It sounds like brass is not going to be an issue. The only concern i had was that i might need to turn some necks using a certain brass. I parted ways with my neck turning stuff and i was not going to invest in any. Did you guys have pillars installed and the action glass bedded? I am thinking i will send it out sometime and have it done. Also i will send a blank and while it is out of the stock they can contour the barrel to the factory dimension and make it just a tad smaller if it needs to be floated so no work will be needed to the stock. That way when the time ever comes i will have a barrel ready to roll.

Hello, I have a Sako 75 6ppc single shot. Came with 200 pieces Norma brass,
Which I have used with great results. Test target provided was .130"! Shoots
Very well. I use redding fl sizing die w neck bushing. Norma brass seems fine.
No neck turning, obviously, it's stamped 6ppc USA (?) I bought 100 pieces
Sako brass directly from Beretta / sako importer in Maryland few years back, they may still have. Never used it. Love mine for PD's out to 275 yds or so..
Good luck & enjoy...

If the Norma brass has a headstamp reading '6 PPC USA', it will fit perfectly. That's what the 'USA' suffix means-Sako chamber. Just full length size, trim to length, clean up the 'flash hole', load and shoot~!
