6PPC Berger Column bullets

I may shoot the Column bullets next match,,at least at 100,,shot this target yesterday in some nasty heat and mirage with 40xLCS scope I just traded for,,I dont like the 1/8th dot at all but the Ackerman clan will take care of that with a raised fine cross hair,,

I would sure enough take 4 like this week from Saturday at Gallatin,,

Darned nice target there. Good shootin'!! Looking forward to seeing "four of a kind" from your next match. ;) WD

I agree, never plan to own a dot scope, love the clean, small subtension of the FCH.
Great target man!!!

I stopped using the Bergers cause I thought the JDS shot a little better. Are you getting pressure signs at 29.8? How much neck tension ? Jump or jam?

necks measure .2635 sized and .266 loaded shot in a .268 neck chamber,,the Columns seem to like about .008-.010 jump and while I am sure pressure is up there I am not having any issues with it,,

That dot reticule is holding you back...[/QUOTE

Several in this thread have indicated that a dot reticule is not a desire. Could someone explain the science or theory on that?

I went from crosshairs to dot and never looked back. Obviously I'm missing something. (I admit that I'm slow to catch on). :) WD

I was being facetious. Obviously the dot was not holding him back with groups like that.

I personally dislike fine crosshairs and would never buy one. Centering a 1/8 inch dot in the small circle is the best way for me to aim and much easier to do with mirage. Others see it another way.

Everyone has a preference no doubt
For me shooting group. Just aiming a dot at the bull doesn't work.
Each shot in the 5 shot group may require a different aim point. For me the dot is just in the way

All my target scopes have 1-8th inch dot. Except the 10-50 Sightron, which has a fine x-hair. I find it easier to hold off with that reticule more so than with a dot.

Small Dot for me! I find hold off is easier and faster for me with a dot, but I probably drive a different make vehicle than some of you as well. ;)

When I heard that they were discontinuing the standard 68 grn bullet when the column bullet came out I bought all I could find cause my 6PPC shoots so well with them. Now that Ive seen your targets I wish I had bought the columns instead.

I had to get a 6" drop tube to load my ammo for tomorrow but I am gonna shoot the Columns and VVN133,,I am still trying to adjust to the dot in the scope,,I havent shot much the last couple weeks but it shot pretty decent today,,
