6PPC 1-15"t and bullet selection

I just picked up a 15"t 6PPC 25" long LV. My question is what is my bullet selection? I looked Shilen's twist recommendations up and it said up to 70grs for bullet weight. After doing some searching I find that with the 15"t it jacket length really plays into it more than the 14't or faster. I would like to use the 58gr Vmax for PD's and other predators. TIA, Adam.

Most 6PPCs that I'm familiar with are used in competition at the local level and up to and including the World Benchrest Team level. Their twist is usually confined to the 13.5" to 14" range however Tony Boyer has used a 15" on occasion.

Bullets are almost always custom made hollow points, flat base and boattails and are in the range of 65 to 68 grains. Barrel length is usually 21 to 22 inches.

You might want to give a variety a bullets a try ... 50 grain up to 70 ... since you're using the PPC on varmints vice paper. Good Shooting.

I shoot BARTS ULTRA (68g) in my shilen 15 Twist. Have shot a .1847 agg. with this set up at 200yds in compitetion.
You will have NO problem shooting the 58g bullet.
