6mmRem and the 95gr Berger

Using a 10" twist to stabilize the 95 gr VLD out of a 6mm Rem can work but is on the edge. If you keep your velocity on the high side you might be ok in all environmental conditions however you may find that if you are in a environment where velocities are slowed, moderate to extreme cold) you could have a problem.

These things are not set in stone and are affected by the variations within many of your rifle components. For example, is your 10" twist a true 10" or is it a 9.8" or a 10.2". The bore itself and the relation of the bullet OD to that bore will generate a certain pressure level and in turn certain velocities. The powder you are using today may not be the powder you use in 6 months. Is this powder burning at the same rate as the previously tested lot. The primers can affect this combination as well.

The truth is you are on the edge and with the many variables involved in shooting it will be easy to cross that line without a deliberate effort to avoid crossing the line. Be very careful when you do this since today's high velocity load can produce tomorrow's unsafe load if you switch powder lots or environmental conditions.

Eric
