6mmPPC for 600 yd. Mid-range matchs

Hey Folks,
Been successfully shooting .223/80 or 90 gr. bullets for 600 yd. Mid-Range Highpower matches and my barrel is getting long in the tooth. Wondering about changing to 6PPC. Any advantage or am I just wasting $$. Using a CZ 527 w/ custom barrel. Easy conversion with a new bolt only to go with a new barrel. Worth it or not?

Not worth it. No ballistics advantage and the cost involved further hurts you

I regularly have shot a PPC with 68 gr bullets at 500 yd groundhog matches. On a day with light consistint conditions its deadly. Often have shot 1 inch groups at 500. But in my mind that is the limit. Tried going to a faster twist, from 13.5 to 8, and using heavier bullets, did not work. Could not get consistant goups, would never repeat. First step up I might consider would be a no turn straight 6 br. That would keep it simple. On the other hand first time I showed up to shoot 500 with PPC several experienced shooters told me I should just leave I had no chance. Lol, that story did not last long, however its usually not a fruitful idea to try and reinvent the wheel.

try the 6AR turbo or Fat Rat versions which can shoot the heavier 105/107 bullets.
