Hello all. Having a problem here. Just re barreled my BR. Used go/no go gauges. Having issues with tight bolt operation . Brass is full length sized( forester comp die set). Marked one piece brass with marker, chambered it and when I pull it out, just the marker above ring on bass is marked. Took barrel off this morning and grabbed old barrel also. Dropped brass in old barrel and removed,dropped it in new barrel and it fell the same distance in barrel. This is brass only,no bullet or primer. Could I have had my headspace to tight?.

Here is 3 things to check 1 Take both barrels and put your go gauge in and you should have the same distance from the gauge to the back of the barrel. 2 Take your brass and see if they both fit the same the chamber mite be tighter. 3 Your front screw that goes into the action can be too long and is locking on the bolt head . It is a Savage 6MMBR- Bolt opens and closes like a dream with no case in action. Did the gauges in the 2 barrels-Fits the same in each one. Took brass and it fits the same in each one.
If the go gauge fits and the no-go gauge does not fit, then, by definition, your headspace is in-spec. However, that does not mean your old barrel and new barrel have identical headspace...Are you trying to put brass from the old barrel into the new barrel and it is not fitting? That has happened to me a few times even when headspace was correct. If that is the case, try using new brass in your new barrel....I bet your problem disappears.
It's also possible you are sizing your brass enough for the old barrel but not enough for the new barrel. You can figure that out by fireforming some new brass in the new barrel and then making sure you are bumping it enough.

Get a small base die and size all your brass with it for that particular rifle.It may drop in each barrel the same but the bolt with that headspace gage may be pusing it further in due to chambering differences. If you bring the base diameter back to size it should cycle smooth after that in my opinion.
Update to all. Re did everything here this morning. Won't say what I did wrong ( as to not look like a total moron :
