6mmBR brass

I purchased some 6mmBR Lapua brass. This was not shot in my rifle. I say that because when I measure just above the extractor groove I measure .270-.271. However, when I measure new unfired I get .268-269. All this because when I chamber the once fired brass the bolt handle is somewhat hard to operate but the new unfired is easier. I am thinking that a small base die would resize the base and the stiffness would be gone. Does anyone else think this may help. Let me know. I don't want to just not use the brass. I was going to try a small base .243WIN die if I could find one. Anyway any help appreciated.

Am I reading something wrong hear?
Shouldn't it be .47somthing above the extractor groove?
Those dimensions sound like the neck.
I take you have tried to full length resize the brass with your die?

It could be the length too long or the sholder needs bumping back also.

The spec. is .4709. My guess is the over all length too long for your chaimber or the sholder needs bunping back.

well i bumped the should back with redding case holder set up to 10 thou and still still bolt on close...didnt measure overall...duh!! the new brass is fine and some of the once fired are good also..the only thin I found so far is the diameter. I will look at length.

This is really confusing me ...all the brass is shorter than new and the new brass chambers fine..still looking for stiff bolt..

You don't have an issue with neck diameter do you? Check your other loaded brass and this loaded brass. Are you sure of what your chamber neck diameter and length are? There are lots of variables in both 6br rifle chambers and brass.

Also, did you resize the necks of that once fired brass before you tried it in your rifle? The rifle it was fired in may have a larger neck diameter and that would not allow the brass to chamber with ease because you would be in essence resizing the neck when chambering a case.

my gunsmith set my rifle chamber up as no-turn and I think I found the problem.. I purchased this brass as a lot of 500 some "prepped" and some not. Well there weRE some that I thought were prepped by the label on bag that wAS not and after pulling bullets and checking length and all the other steps I should have done everything is fine now. I have'nt shot this rifle since it was built in the winter. So the maiden shoot is this Saturday. It is a Sako action on an old Colteer rifle with a Hart barrel. I got the rifle for $325 just for this project. The only thing I will do is get the part for the L571 action to replace/modify the follower.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOU INPUT...I SHOULD HAVE PREPPED ALL THE BRASS MYSELF AND THEN I WOULD KNOW WHAT I HAD. IN A HURRY TO GET LOADED FOR THE RANGE.
