Shot one for ground hogs from 1969-2009. Shot a lot of 4831 and 4350 with 85 gr Sierra BTHP. It's a barrel burner. You probably have a couple inches of rifling missing.Does anybody still use the old 6mm Remington? I just picked one up and was looking for some loads to start with. Whats your opinion on them? Thanks
A gunsmith can cut the tab off that lock in less than a minuteI have been shooting one for coyotes and deer since 1980. I have had good luck with 85 gr soft point bullets, with IMR3031, with velocity at about 3000 fps. I haven’t tried any of the new vmax bullets. If yours has the trigger that you have to place the safety on fire to run the bolt, consider replacing or be very careful. I believe REM paid out law suits for discharges. The old triggers are nice, but since the gun will be passed down to grandkids, I replaced mine with a Timney so the safety can remain on while running the bolt.
I still have the original trigger and planned to have that done at some point.A gunsmith can cut the tab off that lock in less than a minute

Owned several Rem 700 for deer hunting. I am left handed and if I slung the rifle over my left shoulder my body would always push the safety to the fire position and I had no way to know if the safety was on.
