6mm remington wildcat

I'm new to this type of shooting. Is there a wildcat 6mm rem cut down to 22-250 length? I have a takeoff 6mm barrel like new, and wanted to cut it down to use 22-250 brass. I like all its configuration, but don't understand its extra length and powder capacity. I'm not working so money is tight, but I can probably get a friend to machine the barrel to shorten the chamber if I get some guidance.
Thanks Jim

I understand it's 250 necked up. I want to use a barrel I have in 6mm remington, by cutting it down from the receiver end and rethreading so I can use the existing chamber already cut. In other words it will be a short chamber 6mm remington. Is this a cheap pipe dream? I like all the design profile of the 6mm remington, but don't want it to be as long. In the future if I like how it works I want to rebarrel my DPMS 308 longrange rifle to use this cartridge. It's 26 degree shoulder should feed alright, but I wonder if the long neck will give trouble extracting? Except for the 26 degree shoulder it closely resembles the new tubb 6mmXC?

hhrgprez. I take it you have a 6mm Remington take off barrel. If that is correct, you have a lot of ways to go.
If money is tight and you want a great cartridge, I suggest the 6mm Norma BR! This is the cartridge this web site is built around! You can buy loaded amo or reload your own!
Your 6mm Remington barrel will have to get about an inch or so cut off the "Chamber end" and then re chambered to the 6 BR.
You will get a velocity loss, but the efficiency of the 6BR case will compensate for most of the barrel length loss and lesser powder charges.

Your idea of a short 244 Rem is not new. There are any number of mid-sized 6mm cartridges designed exactly this way. Cut .300" off the end of the barrel and you have it. What you have basically is the 6mm X or the later 6 XC. Others use the same idea only with a different shoulder angle. Mine is the 240 Orphan and has a 40 degree shoulder.
