6mm rem.

Now this was a load back when H4831 was still surplus powder. Additionally, I used 7MM Mauser brass necked down>>>it would increase case capacity about a grain. BUT with 50.0grs of that OLD H4831 and a Nosler 100 grain "Solid Base Boat Tail" (I don't believe it is made anymore) I was getting over 3000 f.p.s. in a 24" barrel and excellent accuracy. Back then I shot at 100 yards and if it grouped about an inch, I was in heaven! So, take that for what it is worth, BUT I can tell you that H4831 is STILL THEE powder for the 6mm Rem. with 85gr and up bullet weights!

H-4831 WORKS WELL FOR ME WITH 87GR BERGERS VLD'S NEVER HAD A PROBLEM 210M PRIMER REALLY LIKE MY OLD 6MM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reloader 19 or R22 will work well, I prefer Reloader 19. Go to the Nosler web site and look at the loading data for for your rifle (6mm Remington).

Bullets: The target bullets are best left to punching paper!
There is no bullet that will work better then the 95 or 100gr Nosler Partition on light medium game such as Deer. They go in VIOLENTLY open up then continue on, most of the time they exit the Deer leaving better blood trails if tracking becomes necessary because of bad shot placement.

Some of the guys on this web site like the Barnes bullets, however I don't find them accurate in my rifle and they have somewhat low Ballistic Coefficients.

I had a 6mm I gave to a nephew and it was a deer slayer with the old H-4831 and 85 gr. Noslers. This brought up some good memories from the early 80's. Unfortunately the rifle had a 1-12 or 1-14 twist barrel and we never tried bullets heavier than 85 grs.

I shoot sierra 85 hpbt and barnes 85 tsx both loaded with imr 4350. Shot from a rem 788. Both shoot to the same POI
I practice with the sierra's and hunt with the barnes. I would have no problem hunting with the sierra's either

Bullet-95g nosler partition-Nuff said Many Nebraska corn fed white tails and Kansas white tails bit the dust

43.0+g of H4350
Win primer
3200 fps
5/8" groups

Breaks bones, great blood trail, quartering shots, to and fro complete penetration breaking shoulders and ribs along the way

We shot this load for many years, never a failure. Today, I would opt for some R#26, R#19, and R#17 in that order, 3300 is a reality with accuracy with these fine powders.

I had a Rem 700 VLS 26 inch that was a death ray with the Hornady 100 BTSP and a bunch of RL22,,it was going right at 3200 fps and shot pretty dang well also,,

I melted that barrel with the 70 NBT and IMR4064 and traded it for a 204,,,wish I had it back and a new Brux barrel on it,,

I still have an 18.5 inch Rem Model 7 that I shoot the Berger 95 gr Classic Hunter and H4350 in and it will flatten a whitetail also but the short barrel is not as fast,,

Hornady 100 Interlocks over Re22 powder or Re 17 powder loaded to around 3000 fps. This is not a max velocity load and so it is not hard on the rifle. That velocity seems to really work with the 100-grain Hornady (or Partition). I have killed well over 100 white-tailed deer with this load out to around 400 yards. I am really impressed with the 6 mm for deer after several years of using it in a depredation hunt situation where I got to test it on lots of deer.

i gave my two sons 6mm in rem 600's when the came out, the took many deer with 100 gr hornady sp and 4064, also the Sierra 100gr sbt using same loads, they never lost a deer,

Also used 70gr but it was not a drt as the 100's

Shooting 90 gr. Accubonds using H4350 in two different rifles here. Took a nice KS buck last year at 255 yards with a shot tight behind the shoulder. He took three steps and fell over. Added a doe to the freezer the next day with the same bullet. Will definitely be using this combo again this season. This caliber/bullet combo is quickly becoming my favorite for deer hunting. The two rifles I have are both varmint rifles and with the light recoil our kids love shooting them.

I have always used 100 gr bullets in my 6mm's for my deer hunting and have had excellent luck with them. I used a lot of Hornady interlocks and then switched to Sierra Pro Hunters. I have always gotten my best accuracy with IMR4831 and Rl19. I used a lot of Accurate 3100 back in the 80's and 90's also.
