6mm Rem loads w/ these powders/bullets...

I have a Ruger M77 in 6mm Rem for which I’m going to being loading. My goal is to enjoy the hobby, and shoot ‘em at the range, at 100 & 200 yds. So, strictly for accuracy w/out concern for dropping ‘hogs, ‘dogs, or deer… If you were me, how would you start the process of trying to find the sweet spot for my gun, with these ingredients? What would be your guess at the best powder/bullet combination? Any input would be very much appreciated.

Here how the pantry is stocked so far:
Primers - Winchester & Magtech lg rfl
Brass - Remington & a few Win.
Powder – H4831, Varget, IMR4064,& H4350 if a trade goes through or IMR4350 if not)
Bullets,about 15 of each, from bulletsamples.com)
- Sierra 60gr ballistic tip
- Sierra 70gr bt matchking
- Hornady 75gr v-max
- Nosler 80gr ballistic tip
- Sierra 85gr spt varminter
- Nosler 95gr ballistic tip
Manual,s) – Speers#14, Hodgdon data from their site

I have a quite a few loads for the 6mm Rem at home. I'll look for them tonight. What is the twist of the Ruger? 1:10?

H4831 works very well in mine with 75 gr VMaxs. I can exceed 3500 fps in my 1:12 twist 28' Shilen barrel. I use IMR4350 with 95s, 100s, and 105s with good success.

Tiny,
I think it's 1:10, but am not certain. Can't find it anywhere on the Ruger site, but I might email them with the actual serial number to see what they can tell me. I saw a list on another forum post that agreed w/ your guess of 1:10, but seems like I've seen others that thought it might be 1:9.

Thanks in advance for checking your archives later.

I shot a slug of coyotes with the 80g Sierra with 41.2g of IMR 4064 at 3500 fps. I used Win Brass and Fed 210 primers.

46.0-47.0g of IMR 4350 with a Win primer, 70g Noslers at 3600 fps=tiny groups.

Work up to these loads in your rifle.

Thanks for all the input so far everyone. Looks like my powder for primers trade, where I thought I might get some H4350) is not happening, so I went ahead and picked up some IMR4350 locally,DFW, TX). Would still like to find some H4350, but it looks like there's a lot of love out there for the I-4350 as well.
Incidentally, for anyone who needs it, there's a pretty good supply of Varget, IMR4064 and IMR 4350,all 1 lbs) nearby here. I'm not sure the stores ship, but if you have a friend in DFW that travels your way, or if you're heading this way yourself, drop me a note and I'll steer you there.
