What's the naked length of the 95 grain Berger VLD bullet?

Attached is the Berger spec sheet.
Thanks ..gator. Good sheet to have for my reference file.
Based on the data it appears to me the 95 grain Berger VLD would perform best in a 1:8
(hope my math is on target :-\)

No, my calc shows the 95 VLD is at Sg 1.416 in a 9.25 twist, 3100 fps and 59°F. That should be easily achievable in a 6mm Rem 24" or longer. You should be good to go.

I have a 29" Krieger 6BR with a 1:10 twist. I know it will stabilize the 95 VLD at 800 ft. I am pushing them to +2950 fps.

My 6 mm AI with a 1:9 twist with stabilize them all day long.

I shot two nine twist 6mm for years, and I never could get either one to shoot a VLD of any weight. My best bullets were the 80 thru 87 grain bullets at near max loads.

Been associated with the 6mm Rem since the 70's. Originally a .224 was a 12 twist, which I have and it is deadly with a 85 gr Sierra HPBT, If yours is the 9 twist factory(easy to determine twist-try it) you could go with a 95 SMK with no problem and a Super bullet. H4831 has worked well, IMR 4320 with 75 gr has been excellent also. Never could get a ball powder to shoot worth anything in a 6mm.

Howdy Six'ers,
My Remy Varmint 700, 6mm Rem loved R-P case filled w/ 49 gr of RE19 sealed in w/ Nosler 70 Ballistic tip seated at 2.836.

My factory 6mm Remington barrel will shoot the 105AMAX but not the SMK 107's.

IIRC, 6mm Remington factory twist is 1-9.25" and the .244 Remington is 1-12".

My new Rem 700 VLS in 6mm has shot 85 Gr Sierra's w/IMR 4064 up to 105 Gr Hornady's w/H4831SC under 1 MOA @ 100 yds. Took the 105's out to 600 yds with accuracy. However the 105 Berger match would not shoot with any accuracy in this rifle. I'm still working on length and load for this bullet.

I have/had a few varieties of M700 rifles in 6mm Rem.

My favorite loads were usually some amount of Imr 4350 behind either 70 gr Ballistic Tips or 70 gr MatchKings.

With those two bullets, I never had a problem finding a load that shot great in any of my rifles.

Thanx again for all the replies. This past Saturday I shot some 95gr VLD's, 87gr V-max's, and 95gr Sierra 95 HPBT's. I was using IMR 6064 since I just picked up an 8lb jug for my 22-250's. Loaded up some rounds and out of all of them the 95gr Sierra's shot the best. I had a 200 yard .235" four shot group with the 5th shot making it a .642", I wasn't using any flags and was mostly calm in the morning. I think with some tweeking it will be a winner. The 87's worked pretty good as well.
Thanx again.

Well...I went and loaded some more 6mm with IMR 6064...38.6 grains, 95 gr Sierra's BTHP, I neck sized only, and WLR primers. That was about the best load I had so far with decent groups (FL sized). The next set of groups were all over the place. :( Shooting over a CED 2 chronograph averaged 2920 fps, ES was 14 and SD was 9...so that at least tells me I was loading correctly. The last time I loaded was with a FL die and all the groups were just ok. They had a lot of neck tension. These last ones had about .002" neck tension. Would the lack of neck tension make that much of a difference ? I am going to FL some tonight and shoot tomorrow to confirm my 1st outing. Has anyone found this issue ?
Thanx again
