I've read all of your posts re the 6MM PPC and hope that you have found a suitable solution. If you have you will want to extend the life of your cartridges for as many firings as possible.I'm in the process of purchasing a Sako 6mm PPC USA single shot rifle which has a .271-.272 chamber. The rifle comes with some Sako brass but I know in the future I will need to make brass as there are no Sako 6mm PPC USA brass here in Canada that I can source. I know most PPC shooters get their brass by using the Laupa 220 R. Right now here there just isn't any to be had and may be like this for a while, but I am able to source 100 Laupa 6.5 Grendel brass and I read that the Grendel is basically a 6ppc necked upped to 6.5. Is there a downside to using this brass to form PPC-USA brass or am I better to wait and try and source the 220 Russian. TKS
The less you push the brass around the greater its life expectancy will be. I'd suggest that after each firing you resize the neck only. Have you considered neck sizing only?
I bought a die from a gentleman who shot 6PPC with his dad for years. Here's some of what he told me. "You may not believe this, but my father has two sets of Lapua cases that have over (50) firings on them that he still uses! The other shocking part is that has been with NO annealing. Not sure on the frequency of his full-length sizing, but usually just the slightest bump on the shoulder is all that is needed."
I thought his remarks were very thought provoking and felt that they might be of use to you.
