6mm ppc brass

If one loads the 6ppc usa in these factory Sako rifles like the custom benchrest shooters do, you will get yourself in trouble real fast. These small actions cannot take those amounts of pressure. Stick to Published loads for these rifles and you will never have any trouble not having enough room in the case for the powder. Be careful.

Yeah I think the Sako and norma brass is capable of handling a similar amount of pressure as the factory Sako actions. To get the most out of a custom action you need the tougher Lapua brass

My Sako is stupid accurate for a factory gun and I've heard a lot of others say the same.

From my research I see that N-133 is the go to powder in the 6 PPC bench guns loaded hot. Being that loads are throttled back for the Sako action is N-133 still the powder of choice or is there a better one. TKS

I've tried 133 but didn't have much luck with it. Maybe because you cant load enough in the sako to make it shoot. Dont confuse custom ppc loads with these Sakos.

Depends on the gun and bullet. I have a good load going now with a moderate load of N133 but I’ve had really good loads before on H-322, XBR-8208, and LT-32.

I have 8208 and H-322 but was wondering if I would be better off trying something like Benchmark rather than N-133.TKS

TKS. I realize that. That is why I inquired. What powders have worked for you.
Ive got 4 of these little sakos, 2 with 12 twist and 2 with 14 twist. I know it sounds strange but all 4 like 27.5-28.0gr of Benchmark. It does make life easier that way though. Ive been shooting these things since 1987 and am totally sold on Benchmark for them. 3 of them like the bullet .005 off the lands and the other wont shoot unless they are .015 ITL. Berger 64 columns and Berger 80's in the 12 twist. Ive not tried 8208, but have 133, 322 and lt32.

TKS for posting as this reply comes at a good time. I was wondering this about Benchmark and I am able to source some.

Tell me how you reach the lands. I could only touch the lands using 70SMKs just barely seated in the brass. (It wasn’t useful btw). Columns were well out of the lands.

My rifle is the same. I won't be able to get to the lands and keep enough bullet in the case to make things work with the 64-68 ones. The Sierra 75 gr HPFB is shorter than the 70 gr HPBT so this may be a better bullet. If the 70 gr is ok with a 14 twist this heaver shorter bullet should work . Also being a FB is a +. Problem is to find them.

Finally got to give my Sako a try. As you posted @cwebster Benchmark is great. I tried it with the 64 gr Stinger bullet and it shoots great. First time out and was shooting in the high 2's. The 75 gr Speer HP with H 322 also shoots great and works with my 14 twist. I will now fine tune both loads to see if I can improve but must keep in mine this is a factory rifle not a bench gun.
