In the World of Competitive Benchrest, you will often hear terms such as, “lower, middle, and upper load window”.given n133 powder and 68 grain bullets how fast are your rifles pushing these bullets and is there a velocity you try to get for the rifletoshoot small groups.
Some very good and well known IBS group shooters that I know and talk to are running anywhere between 30.0 to 30.5 and are getting 34-3500 fps.given n133 powder and 68 grain bullets how fast are your rifles pushing these bullets and is there a velocity you try to get for the rifletoshoot small groups.
Very well put Jackie. Especially the last sentence. In the World of Competitive Benchrest, you will often hear terms such as, “lower, middle, and upper load window”.
The lower load window with 68 grn bullets and 133 is usually in the 27.5 to 28.5 range, the middle load window from 28.5 to 29.5, the upper above 29.5.
Most shooters will choose a load window that they feel gives them the best agging capability.
Velocity is a secondary consideration.
It can. I have probably 12 different lot numbers of 133 and the biggest variation in the lots that I have chronographed was 75FPS. A friend of mine sold me about 7 pounds out of an 8 lb jug because that 2015 lot of powder that he was using in his PPC, well you couldn't put enough in the case to get it too work. I shot it in my 30x47 and it produced the highest velocity of any lot of 133 that I own. With that 30x47 I started out using 43.5 and was getting 3225 with a 112 with a 2001 lot of powder. When I ran out I tried both a 96 & 97 vintage and I had to use a half grain more at 44 to equal that 3225FPS.thank you for your imput.does lot number play into this powder.
At these speeds are they greatly diminishing the life of the brass? Inquiring minds want to know! Some very good and well known IBS group shooters that I know and talk to are running anywhere between 30.0 to 30.5 and are getting 34-3500 fps.
I’ve got one set of 50 pieces I’ve been shooting for 2 years practice and all. Hate to know how many shots are on them .0114 thick necksAt these speeds are they greatly diminishing the life of the brass? Inquiring minds want to know!
I wanna send them them down range with there ass on fire ! After what you spend to go and compete brass is a consumable. I wanna shoot small dots every round. If it comes at a cost of only 15-20 shots per piece if brass so be it.At these speeds are they greatly diminishing the life of the brass? Inquiring minds want to know!
Frankie. Brass cases are like barrels. Expendable. Why do you think groupers go thru so many barrels. They are not shooting a 30BR. Brass is cheap compared to barrels. My friend who shoots group tells me that he only can afford 4 barrels a year. he said to me I know guys who'll buy 20 to 25 barrels a year. This game isn't cheap and the top shooters don't care what they spend to try to get that extra edge over their fellow competitors. At these speeds are they greatly diminishing the life of the brass? I not to concerned about the cost of the brass, problem now is finding brass!!Frankie. Brass cases are like barrels. Expendable. Why do you think groupers go thru so many barrels. Your funny Tim. I only have about half of what u said.
Bullet Central still has some. It was available almost anywhere not too long ago but I see it's out of stock at most places. But you have to jump on it while it's available and that's something that a lot of people fail to do because they think the price is too much and they have this delusional thought that once the manufactures get caught up they insist the price will come down which is bullshit. They'll give you this economic lesson that it's supply and demand. If it was gasoline then yes, but I guarantee that your not going to see prices of components go down and if those people with that supply and demand logic BS is concerned they are as Archie Bunker told Edith they are nothing but a bunch of dreamy eyed screwballs. Case closed.I not to concerned about the cost of the brass, problem now is finding brass!!
LOL I agree, ordered some, thanks for the heads up, sometimes I search so many places I forget where I searched!!Bullet Central still has some.
