6mm Fireball

How many folks have built a 6mm Fireball, i.e., a 221 Remington Fireball opened up to 6mm ?

I gave that cartridge some serious thought but ended up with a 6x45 and 6x45 Ackley. I don't think you will get decent enough velocity for huting past 200 yards. If you are shooting paper...I would bet the 6mm Fireball with light bullets would be terriffic. My 6x45 and 6x45 AI shoot sub 1/2 moa from AR-15's! I am sure that a bolt gun would do somewhat better.

Kindler did it, 6 VarTag or something like that. To low velocity for me, I have a PPC for BR and would need to use it for prarie dogs to have one.

I have yet to find a more efficient cartridge yet..the .221 rem fife ball is the perfect size case for light bullets..
.17, .20, 22..but I think larger caliber changes the physics and degrades its ability..
Keep them light, keep them fast..add a custom barrel and you have a laserbeam ..
I would move up to the ppc case for anything larger then 22 in the fireball case..
Just my thoughts..why make something that its not...
The wheel has already been invented..quit waisting time and money getting the same results those who came before us got...the passion to run off with a wild cat is so intoxicating..until you realize the financial commitment involved with bring it to reality..just to poke 4000$ holes in paper..or kill criters who won't know the difference when they get hit.
They only know its better to still be alive..

I did it a long time ago for fun,bought a lot of light bullets from Ed Watson.
As others have said there are lots of other good choices for target shooting.
Was just thinking that if my barrel was twisted for heavys and suppressed it would be a kind of 6mm Blackout.I did mine before the 55 BTs became available and bushing type dies didn’t exist yet either.I guess it depends on your reason for doing this if for varmints a VarTarg or straight 221 is tough to beat.
