6mm Creedmoor

The 8 twist will fit your needs...I shoot a 6 Dasher with 7.5 twist 5 R and have shot 55 gr Nosler to 115 DTAC, it will handle them all. The 58 Vmax at almost 4100 fps were accurate at the 100 yd target, and didn't come apart. The long range plinker is the Sierra 110 gr MK at 3085 fps in a 28" barrel. Super accuracy is the 108 Berger at 2950 to 3030 fps, with several powders. Each barrel has a preference.

If you had a Dasher chambered barrel could you just run a 6xc or 6 Creedmoor reamer up in there and get a proper chamber?
I know I could just look it up, but it's early Sun morning and I am not firing on all cylinders yet....Thanks

Regards
Rick

I shot high power with a 240 National Match which is the same as a 6mm Creedmore. Always used 8 twist barrels. At 600 yards I used 115 grn. Sierras. Always would shoot good if the barrel was good. I won a couple of 600yd matches at Perry with this load. Just a old Model 70 pointed in the right direction.

Yes, I have had some dasher barrels punched out to 6 creed !

When SPENDING, a Bunch of Money ( $2,200 to $3,500.00,.. all, Up ) to, Build a 6 MM,.. Target / Varmint Rifle,.. personally, I'd look for some, descent, Barrel "Life" and the 6 XC does, THAT, Plus it, Feeds WELL, in a Short Action,.. Hence WHY, the 6 XC was My "choice" and believe me, I did, a LOT of Reading / Studying, before making, that choice.
IF you're, a LOW Volume shooter ( Predator Hunter ) , the 6 Creed is Fine, but the XC will give, you MUCH Better, Barrel Life ( If, you enjoy, Ringing Steel and Target Practice ) with only, a small Loss of, Velocity.
From My studies, the best Twist is from, 1-7.5 to 1- 8, covering most of, the Popular Bullets ( 80's to, 110's ).
StaBall 65 Powder, with THROWN charges, works Amazing, in my 6 XC 1-7.5 with, 95 Bergers, 103 gr. ELD-X's, 107 SMK's, 108 gr. Berg's & ELD-M's

How can a 6XC give much better barrel life compared to a 6Creed, its so close to being the same case? Think there is something like 0.7gr H2o capacity difference between the two in most brass. You get bigger variances then that between Hornady and Lapua brass in the same caliber

My guess would be the longer neck in the XC. I think I read somewhere that it moves the hot portion of the flame away from the beginning of the rifling. I have both calibers but have not had the opportunity to shoot either one enough to cause any significant erosion.

The 6 XC is very "efficient", using about, 3 to 4 grains, LESS Powder than, the 6 Creed and HAS, a Longer Neck as stated, by Hoot.
I'm pushing, the 103 ELD-X's and 107 gr. SMK's slightly Over,.. 2,900 FPS ( in 24 inch Bbl. ) with Extreme accuracy ( .2's and 3's ) and that's, Fast enough for Me, as it's, just another click or, Two,.. way out there.
You need to look at, the ESTIMATED Barrel "Life" on, BOTH Cartridges, for yourself,.. I DID !
For the 100 or, so FPS, IT was, a NO Brainer for, Me !
But replacing Barrels, on my RemAge Model 700 action is now, cheap and easy to do, by myself, as I have all the equip., now.
