6mm Creedmoor (Possible) Troat Erosion or Freebore Issue

there is no rational reason why you have to be in the lands with any bullet.

believe me there is a point between mag length and bullet going completely into the case that that barrel/bullet combination will shoot. the berger jump test is a good.place to start. i know from experience those hybrids like a jump

the shape of the ogive on just about every different bullet is different. that is why you must measure to the lands with each different bullet you use.

pull them out with your fingers?
question? what is the diameter of your neck before seating a bullet? after?

Talked to PVA today, and they were extremely helpful.

Apparently the rifle was chambered for Factory Hornady ELD ammo. The 108 grain hornady bullets nose is much shorter and it has larger bearing surface than the 105 Berger Hybrids. That is the reason I am having to seat the Bergers so long. Another interesting note, the difference between the two bullets is so large that if I had the rifle chambered for the Bergers, I wouldn't be able to shoot the factory ammo as it would be shoved into my lands.

Just wanted to post that in case someone else encounters a similar issue.

It isn't a comp rifle? If it shoots good enough groups leave it alone. I had a 6mm Rem with about 3" of serious erosion. It still shot under 3/4" groups. Good enough for GH hunting out to 350 yrds.

I will have to go back and look at my log book for the diameter. Like I stated above, I am using Peterson Brass that is unfired, but I ran it through a Redding Full Length Bushing Die with .270 bushing sizing for .002 - .003 shoulder bump.

I have seated some at 2.80 and they were fine. Had to pull them with the collet bullet puller. An OAL of 2.88 with the Berger Hybrids is just to long. The bullet isn't seated far enough.

I may try jumping the Bergers or just switching to the Hornady 108s.

Guess I don't understand. How is the bushing size determining your shoulder bump? If you are using a .270 bushing and can pull the bullet out with your fingers, you need to drop down to a .269 or .268 bushing. When seating the bullets at 2.88 how much of the bearing surface is being held by the case neck?
