6mm coyote vs 6x47 lapua

I've never heard of a 6mm Coyote. Googling didn't help.

So, I'm going to guess some and hope that it furthers the conversation.

Many coyote hunters shoot a 6x45. This is a 223 necked up to 6mm. Case capacity 26.9 grains of H2O.

The 6x47 Lapua is the 6.5x47 Lapua case necked down to 6mm. Case capacity is 47 grains of H2O.

Hope that gets things started.

I have 2 6x47 lapuas currently. The late jerry Simison designed the 6mm coyote round off the same case. Just trying to find out the differences. I guess I can always call PTG they made the reamers.

I've been the beneficiary often enough, so I always try to return the favor.

Jerry based the Coyote off a shortened .243 case prior to the emergence of the x47 case. The Coyote is 1.875 in case length with a 35 degree shoulder. A x47 case fireformed in a Coyote chamber comes out at about 1.440 lottsa room for carbon buildup.

Thanks for the info. I had read somewhere it was based off the 6x47 lapua case and shehaned. Guess not. Anyone still shoot this round and how does it compare to the lapua round?

I've known maybe 4 shooters that have (had) the 6 coyote. And Greg is correct it is similar to the 6xc. But even more similar to the 6 Woodchucker, which is slightly less capacity than the 6 Coyote.

So my advice to the Original poster on this requested comparison is to keep it simple and just make a decision for either the 6xc or the 6x47L. Properly smithed and properly loaded and a competent shooter won't be able to out shoot the difference between 4 discussed here at any distance to at least 800yds. Just my experience with them. WD

I was just curious as to the differences is all. I have a 6 creedmoor reamer ready for my next barrel. Thanks again.
