Hello,
Can someone tell me,is there a different between 6x47 SM & 6x47 Lapua.
Thanks
W

The 6-6.5x47 Lapua is made from 6.5x47 Lapua brass necked down to 6mm. It is very similar to the 6XC, but has slightly less capacity and has a small rather than large primer.

The 6x47 SM,Swiss Match) is made by RUAG and is sold in Europe. It is used by the Swiss 300m team. It is a bit shorter in the body and straighter than a 6XC.

OK thanks, because a have find load data for the 6x47 Lapua, i thought that this 2 caliber are equal,,just a other name.Because i am searching to find a good load data for the 6x47 SM.

It looks too me like the 6.5x47mm is just a 6x47mm Improved with the shoulder moved forwards but the neck angle left alone? Is this a pretty accurate assumption about the case itself?

Connor--
Looks are a bit deceiving. If you actually measure the cases, the 6.5x47 Lapua is actually much closer, dimensionally, to the 6XC. Consider it a 6XC with just a bit shorter rim to shoulder, and a shorter neck. And, of course, the small primer pocket.

Loads are nearly interchangeable between the two cases,6XC and 6-6.5x47), i.e. less than a grain difference. It remains to be seen which can give more velocity with a 115 however.

That's interesting... Has anyone decided to blow out the 6x47SW yet?

I'm sure that more than one shooter has thought about improving the 6x47 SM. I'd be very disappointed in the wildcatters out there if no one has tried it. There wouldn't be anything gained over the other similar wildcats, but when has that stopped anyone?? One problem I have noticed with the Swiss case is the difficulty in getting new brass. Everybody was ready to jump on it a couple of years ago but brass was non-existant. Then when the LAPUA came out that pretty much signaled the end to the SM.
