6mm BR?

OK guys i have a really silly question...Is a 6mm BR the same as a factory .243??? I believe that it is not but im not sure. If its not the same can you buy factory ammo for the 6mm BR? I dont load my own yet, next project) so I was wanting to clear these things up before I purchase a 6mm BR barrel...
forgive me for my ignorance
Thanks

No, a 6br is not the same as a 243. On the home page there are tabs on the left hand side with cartridge labels that show diagrams of them. Take a look. Pretty interesting.

Both Lapua and Norma make factory loads for the 6BR that are used extensively in European competition. However the availability here in the USA is very limited.

6BR is worth the effort to gear-up to reload for. Hand loads are the path to the best performance anyway.

i think the 6br would be alright for hunting with the 105 gr bullets With the 8 twist rifling. A lot of great score are being shot with this combination. you just need a good bullet and hand loaded round. go for a no turn neck.

Greetings- I knew nothing much about 6mmbr's except from reading in this website...and had one made for me-took nearly a year & some "experiences" good & bad with gunsmith,s), but received a wonderful rifle last year. I had a heavy Krieger barrel 1/14 twist put on and .271 neck,no turn) chambered. It was astoundingly accurate from the very beginning, no recoil to speak of, super easy to load for. I received much great information from the various smiths, and folks at Sinclair's.
I use mine for PD shooting- I would get a 12 twist next time, though. I am fairly addicted at this point-super caliber!
