6mm BR Norma Brass

I have a chance to pick up some Norma headstamp 6mm BR brass. It was factory ammo from a Norma sponsored shoot.

Is it worth the time? And what is it worth?

My Lapua and Peterson is getting a little long in the tooth at 12 firing's on the Lapua

I cleaned 10 of the sample ones sent to me. Sized, Trimmed, Skimmed the necks with my turner this morning and shot them. They did OK but just by looking at them after filling with my normal load (30.2 of varget) I can see they have quite a bit more internal capacity so I will have to work up a load.

Only issue is to get them I have to buy 1000 and that is way above my needs.

If it's free stuff, what have you got to lose? You're still ahead even if you only get a couple of firings (and if once-fired, you'll probably get more than that.) Worst case, you get to practice brass prep and load development.

Back when the Lapua BR brass was non existent for a while, Norma was the go to. A little expensive but worked VERY WELL and, filled the need for brass. ;)
And as suggested, get it, use what you need and sell the rest.
Better than NOT having any when you need it.

I just fired my current Lapua 6BR lot for the 34th time. Primer pockets are fine. Why do you think 12 is a problem?
The primer pockets are fine, almost tight as they were when new. I'm starting to get some flyers and odd one off shots.

Changed to my 3 time fired Lapua and it cleared right up. Oddly the neck's got thicker but they didn't lengthen and they have not been trimmed since the second firing. They have been annealed every firing.

That's odd. My current cases have been fired in two barrels and precision has not changed. My previous lot went 30 firings and I don't remember why I retired them. The prior lot was gold box and this lot is blue box.

Odd is the perfect word. I have some Lapua 223 with 26 firings on them and still going strong. I got to thinking maybe something in my chamber is wrong so I put a borescope down it. Looks fine and that is when I loaded up the newer Laupa I was saving for a new build.

Go with what works.

I've got some BR Lapua brass with something like 25 firings/resizing's, all mid range loads, still tight primer pockets. Also a mix of Lapua and Norma.
Got the Norma when the Lapua wasn't available THEN, the Lapua brass came available and the backorders came pouring in.:cool::cool:

And a bunch of it has been resized from 6BR into 7BR, 22BR, 20BR and my Wildcat 6.8 BR. No issues with any of it.
Anneal when it gets harder to resize and keep reloading.
Precision Bushing Bump Dies so no trimming needed. :)

Ive also been shooting 6BR with Lapua brass for many years. I have tons of it and some of my oldest has over 30 firings on it and shoots my loads as good as new into tiny little holes. I would look elsewhere then your brass specifically being the issue.

I’ve got batch of 200 BR cases that I bought cheap here on the forums. I was told had been fired over 50 times. I sized, trimmed, and annealed them all and then fire formed then to 6 BRA on a prairie dog trip. I didn’t lose a case and the primer pockets are still just fine. If it’s not over worked, there’s no telling how long in will last.
