6mm br load data

Was out in the reload shed and looked at all my reloading manuels .Hornady,Lymann ,Lee, Sierra and couldnt find one listing for 6br.I read data on this site but was looking for more complete data like starting loads max loads ect. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Today the term is used interchangeably, 6BR Remington, 6BR Norma or just plain 6BR. I have shot older 6mm BR Remington cases in my 6BR. They are .040 shorter than 6BR brass manufactured today. Never a problem.

matt..starting loads for what?? what are you shooting or what do you want to shoot?
the 6BR can be a wide range from 55gr varmit loads to 115gr match loads??????
maybe some more info needed.

There is a wealth of information on this sites 6BR page. Hodgdon includes a good amount of load information for the 6BR in their Reloading Manual that sells for $8. Many do not want to pass on specific load information since what works in theirs may not work in yours. I don't believe there are many here who are tight lipped. The question by FJIM is a valid one. Yes, 6BR Remington & 6BR Norma/Lapua are all in the same family, no difference in loading data.

I am sorry I thought everyone shot longrange like me ;D .I have a savage f-class 30" 1in 8 and want to shoot the 105- 107 grn bullet. The good starter 6br load listed here only said 30 grains varget and was looking for a starting point.

I shoot a 14 twist for shortrange bechrest and varmit hunting.
in shortrange BR the 6BR is know as the redheaded step child.
but mine will shoot. i cant help ya with the long range stuff.. but im sure others can..
after all us shortrange guys seem to to be the odd ducklings.
my 14 twist will shot 70grs out to 750yrds quite well.

mattt: You're on the right track with 30 grs. of Varget with 105 to 107 bullets, my standard load for out to 500 yards, meters. One of the most popular load combinations I see at our local match's.

A guy told me an easy way to find max load (if you don't load at the range) is just load 6 rounds of Varget incrementally starting at a very safe load of 28.5 and go up to 30.1 or 30.2 + - but of course stop before you get to the usual warning signs that way you only have a chance to mess up a few pieces of brass to find max. Then you can work up and fine tune from there.
30.0 even and you will probably be shooting little groups.

My Savage must be broken. It doesn't like 30 gr of Varget. It prefers 28 gr of Varget and 105 Hornady. Speed is kind of slow but groups well.

Matt, ran your requirements through Quick Load and my suggestion would be, to start at 29.0 Gr's of Varget and work up in .3 Gr. increments, keeping and eye on pressure as you approach 30Gr's. According to the program, you should still be safe at 30.2, if you don't find an accuracy node within that window, I would try a different powder. My guess is you'll find what you're looking for. As always be safe and work up cautiously. Hope this helps some...............Chuckhunter

With my new Lapua brass 30.0 grains of Varget pushing a 107 smk .020 off the lands, primed with fed 205 m was the shit. With the once fired brass I have gone all the way up to 31.0 grains of Varget to get the groups that I was getting previous. I don't recommend that you go over the listed max, but that load is safe in my rifle, extracts without sticking, and cases have no visible pressure sign. For me to get .020 from the lands in my barrel I am seating the bullet out pretty far, and that in itself creates more case capacity.
All that said, my next time out to the range I think that I may go back from 30.0 grains to see if there is an accuracy node somewhere between 29.0 and 30.0 grains of Varget.

30 grains varget was the sweet spot with 107 smk. Was shooting groups as breaking in and was getting 3/8 center to center groups with the 30 varget. Thanks for the info
