6mm barrel .236" or .237"

I have had both....All Krieger tubes. I couldn't tell the difference between them. Looks like i am going to bail from the sport....for now, so....this debate is one less thing for my small(ish) brain to worry about!! LOL

I think I will still shoot the Rendezvous at VT......that much fun is hard to walk away from!!!:) As far as regular matches and nationals?? I realized this fall that I never shot 1 shot of load development or practice this summer, other than a re-test of my EZELL tuner that I messed up a year ago. I "retired" back in 2014 ...that lasted till 2019 when I dove back in. Ya never know!! ;)

Generally, with a capitol G, is point blank shooters shoot flat base bullets with a pressure ring, so a "better" fit in a .237".

Long range shooters shoot boat tail bullets w/o a pressure ring, so a "better" fit in a .236".

Not so cut & dried when various bullets can & do measure over one thou in diameter.
I’d say that the vast majority of short range benchrest shooters on the line today are using boat tails.

All my ppc's and br's are .237 bore and work really well for me. Now I had a friend who bought 4 .236 bore's with not so good results.

I remember ordering a barrel from Krieger and asking if there was an advantage to one or the other. The guy on the phone said he'd never heard of a difference. Dunno. Ended up with a 237 (which matches all the in-stock Krieger barrels I've bought.

Be aware that 6mm bullets may vary in actual diameter. I had a 6mm PacNor 3 groove that loved older 105gr Lapua bullets that measured 0.2428.

I had another 6mm barrel that preferred custom 107s that measured .2435 in diameter.

When you get a new barrel you may want to try various bullets and be sure to note bullet diameter as well as weight, design, and BC.

L Cazdor. Are you saying Bartlein doesn't offer a .236? I have one from my friend's estate that's a few years old. IDK

gmr4 Is the Brux button rifled? Wondering if that would make a difference.
Brux is probably the best cut rifle barrel maker as far as wins….

Flat based bullets are used by very few in SRBR anymore.. At least in my BR club.
