6mm ARC bolt gun build

I built a 6mm ARC rifle on a Bighorn Origin action, 28” Shilen barrel with a 7.5 twist and a MDT XRS chassis. I can’t find any 6mm ARC brass, so I purchased loaded ammo from Hornady in 103 gr, 105 gr and 108 gr. Shot at 100 yards and produced the following groups. Factory ammo was just ok with the best group by 103 ELDX @ around .3 moa. Rifle will be used for a light recoiling rig at 1000 yard steel. Only got speed with the 108’s at 2762 and a SD of 12. Very happy with the light recoil and should be able to spot shots easily.

Pic of the rifle? I am putting one together now and ordered a 26" Osprey 7 twist barrel from PVA for my TL3 action. You using the MDT mags? I plan to order a few 12 rounders.

If you were interested in VV powders I sent them a message to get some load data for their powders with 105, 108 and 110grn bullets. Here it is. This is for bolt guns. '

Yes using MDT magazines and they work just fine. We’ll get a picture of the Rifle in the morning hopefully.

Looking forward to your load development and findings.

My 6ARC is a shelf gun, Howa mini, but it’s sure fun. Hard to shoot for me as it’s 4 lbs 10 ozs before scope.

Hope to get it shooting .5-.6 MOA consistently. Has shown some promise but still playing with bullets/powder.
Thx for sharing findings.

I have tried CFE223 and H335 so far with 107 grain Sierra MatchKings. The CFE223 seems to be a better fit so far. Haven’t done velocity yet but groups are looking quite promising.

So far I seem to get better groups with Varget vs CFE223 but haven’t given up on CFE223 yet. It gets an extra 75-100 fps over Varget though.

I too am looking at moving up. Have a Savage Model11 in 223 with a Boyds At-One stock. Already have 200pcs of once fired Hornady brass from a friend at the range and also already have the Savage Bolt Head for the ARC. Hope to put a Shilen 26" Heavy on it.
