6mm AI

Hey all. About to take delivery of my new spotlighting rig in 6AI. Have been given some fireformed brass and reloads from a mate I also bought the barrel off. He has indicated 50gr of reloader 19 with a 87gr vmax for fireforming loads. Has anyone got experience using RE19 in this calibre with simialr weight projectiles? I plan to try ADI powders (Australian), but I was curious if this load is safe not having played with alliant powder before. Can anyone suggest a load for 65-75gr projectiles using either hogdon or alliant powder?

It sure can, but I didn't load them though. When you have an abundant supply of things you use what you like. He uses handmade Gentner bullets to shoot foxes out of his 22BR as well, so I don't think cost is a consideration for him.

My 6AI varmint rifle with 13.5 twist HV Krieger finished @ 28 inch with a muzzle brake loves H414 and 760 powder. I shoot 70 grain Sierra BK,s with either 51.4 grains of 760 or 51.0 of H414. Both good for bugholes and easy 3,967 fps. Work up to this load. Start around 49.5.

In a 14 and 10T, I shot 49.5-50.5g of Win 760 with a Rem 9 1/2, 70g Nosler ballistic tip, amazing accuracy fire forming.

ON the 14T, I shot 51.5g of 760 with a 9 1/2 with 70g Nosler= 4150 fps= Bug hole group, 26"

with the 10T, formed brass and 49.7g was 3970 fps, 3/8"-26"

50g of R#19 sounds really hot for the 87g, no kidding...be careful, please on that one. Win 760 also works great with a 80g Sierra blitz BT, glory, this bullet really pops@3800.

The 70g Sierra Blitz king is the most explosive of the 70g bullets, and they are unreal accurate.
