6mm-300WSM

I just picked up a reamer for the 6mm-300WSM and was wandering if anyone has played with this round. I still have to get a barrel. Would like to find a 32 in barrel with and 8 twist.

I thought about a 6mm-300 Remington Ultra Mag one time! Then I came to the conclusion about the time I had a load worked up, it would be time for another barrel ;)! Filed that idea in circular file!

Two things to think about:
1) If you plan on shooting this much you will needs a lot of barrels, I shot out my 6.5 WSM in 550 rounds.
2) At 1-8" twist you may have quite a few bullet failures, bullets going poof before they hit the target.

I know it will be a barrel burner, but I have a very larg supply of very slow burnning powder and I found a cheap reamer. I`m going to burn up 1 barrel and then make up my mind if I want to play farther with it.

Im sure that the OP is just joking about this type of project. The long 105 and 115g target bullets are not designed to be pushed fast. (over 3150). I bet that type of bullet will deform or disintegrate if pushed over 3200. Also, doubtful that you would find any accuracy over that high node. He would pretty much just be wasting time and money. If Catfish really is serious about this chambering...... why not just make a .17/300WSM or a 204/300WSM. That would be sweeeeet!!

Catfish: My gunsmith built several wildcats chambered in 6.5x 300 WSM. Barrel life was incredibly short, so short that he said he'll never do another.

Seems a 6mm would have even less barrel life.
