I can only speak for myself here, I was answering your question, in the thread title, when you asked “why no love”, as in why aren’t these jumping off the shelf. I don’t want to be perceived as a bragger. If I looked into it and could buy them for 30¢ I’d probably try to make them work. I don’t envy retail businesses, I’m sure it’s frustrating.Just to settle the curiosity. For the 108 ELDM, my cost is $31.75 per 100. So, after credit card fees, software fess etc, etc I make about 6 bucks a box.
The same thing happened when I had my guitar store. I could order Dimarzio pickups from the Guitar Center cheaper than I could order them from Dimarzio, and Dimarzio told me "tough sh#t".
And then Guitar Center/Music123 pretty much ran every local guitar shop out of business...
Sooo... keep bragging about how cheap you can buy blah blah blah...
I think the 108 ELD-M is a fine bullet. I've never had one come apart in flight and they shoot tight with a little bit of work.
Based on my experience, they measure with commendable consistency, especially considering the price. They don't shoot quite as well as the 105 Hybrids out of a couple of my 6mm barrels but I have a Dasher, a 6XC and a .243 AI that shoot them just as well as the Hybrid.
As for the integrity question, I've pushed hundreds of them over 3,300 fps out of a .243 AI 1:8 with no failures and the barrel has about 1,200 rounds through it.
Anyhow, I like them just fine.
I took it as load work. Nothing you can really do to the bullet.
I found them to be more particular about seating depth than the Hybrids. And it was a little bit of work. The .243 AI shoots them acceptably across a wide range but it will put them into little, tiny knots .025 - .032 off. The XC likes them best at .015 off and the Dasher's magic number is .030 off.Phrased another way, "what worked"?
