6brx or 6brdx powder options

So I've decided that Id like a 6brx or brdx in a target and deer rifle. Been researching a bit on here with the search feature and I'm not seeing a ton of threads. At least not like I do when looking for info on 6br or other variants.

What powders are you fellas using for bullets in the 85-95gr weight range, or better yet what powder are you using for any bullet weight range? I've seen varget mentioned, but wondering if anyone has used a VV powder or something similar?

Thanks fellas

Kevin,
I use a stiff load of Varget in my 6brx with 105’s my 6brdx H4895 105’s
I haven’t used VV powders with these cartridges but without looking at load data I would say yes 135 or 140 , I never shoot under 103’s so not sure about your little bullets good luck
I don't shoot the lighter bullets either but with the 103 and 105 gr. class Varget and VV-N140 are very close with speed and accuracy in my 1 -7 Tw. 26 inch barrel.

In my brx's I used varget with 105's and the 88's. Super accurate and good speeds.
If i were going to try vv, I would try 140 first.
That is what I may do. Hard to get a concrete answer on burn rates for n140 and 150. Some threads I've read say n150 gave the same velocities as varget and others swear N140 is the equivalent to varget. I may end up buying 2 #8 jugs of N140 and if it doesn't shoot well I can try it in a 6x45 or 223 rem instead. The prices of varget are making me sick, haha.

I'm using H4895 in my 6BRDX with 103 and 105g bullets.
I'm sure using your lighter bullets you could use N135
I tried N135 with lighter bullets and worked fine in a 6br
You see lots of options, go with what you think you can get
enough of.
8# of any of those powders will last the life of a barrel in that case.

The 6 Dasher loads are pretty much interchangeable in 6BRX, just use caution as you would loading for any other cartridge, start a little low and work up as different brands of brass have different case capacities. The Bulletin up above in the header is always a great place to start when looking for load info on the Dasher, BRX, 30 BR and such lots of great info in there a lot of people forget about and a lot of new members don't even realize its there. https://www.accurateshooter.com/cartridge-guides/6mmbrimproved/

N150 is a lot slower than N140, it's getting close to H4350 while N140 is right next to Varget on the burn chart. I have seen guys use both in the Dasher and BRX. There are some threads on the N140 and N150 in the 6 Dasher and 6 BR.

I like RL -16 in the dasher with 110 SMK and Berger 109 and 105 but its so dam expensive now when mine runs out I won't be buying anymore. You do have to use a long drop tube on the funnel to get enough in the case. LOL. I would look at RL 15.5 also if you could find a decent price.

Thank you for the clarification on N140 and N150, that is what I thought, but I recall seeing conflicting information. Dear lord, I thought varget was expensive lol. Cheapest RL 15.5 I found was $67 bucks a pound. The same with Varget though. I was planning on getting 3, 8# jugs and Id have enough to smoke a BRX barrel and use the remainder on a 6x45 or 223 rem barrel. I could almost get 4, 8# jugs of VVN140 for the price of 3, 8# jugs of varget. Just a shame about the price hikes. Makes me hate them, haha.

I hear you on the prices. It looks like Allianz is getting production back on track, some powder is starting to hit the shelves I just hope everyone doesn't run out and pay those prices. We need to let it sit on the shelves so the maybe they will adjust prices a little bit. We don't want to normalize the high prices.

Here are a few good threads;
