6BRX at 1000yrds

Can a 6mmBRX be competitive at local club 1000yard F-class matches?
To get started in the sport, for as little money as possible, I'm thinking about a Savage AccuTrigger receiver, PacNor 6BRX barrel, and Sharp Shooter Supply benchrest stock.
Opinions please!

Yes, "IF" the wind isn't blowing. I shot a 199-9X at 1000 yds with a 6BRX and routinely shoot 200's with 10+x's at 600 yds at a range with low winds. But when the wind starts blowing those 105-108 gr bullets have a tendency to move sideways. For ease of loading and ease of shooting a 6BRX or the 6Dasher is hard to beat. I think it is a great cartridge to start with.

We've shot 7-8 thousand Sierra 107 and 2+ thousand Sierra 115s through the 6 brx/dashers. Try the Berger 108s, you just might be surprised at the results.....

For those of U who dont know ...listen to Jerry ...he just won the NBRSA 600yd Nationals...with a BRX..and 108's....hummmm...Roger

Moderator: Jerry's Case is a short-neck 40-degree, closer to a Dasher than anything else. The word mistakenly got out that he was shooting a BRX in this gun. No... it's essentially a Dasher.

The actual performance of the two cases,BRX vs. Dasher) is virtually identical. The BRX can use regular 6BR dies, however, the Dasher cannot.

I just purchased a 6.5-284 for use on the windy days. I have only sighted it in but it is a more difficult round for me to shoot because of the recoil, I have a tender shoulder. I am hoping I can go for 66 rounds. Yes, we use the reduced F-Class target at 600 yds. It has a 6" 10 ring and a 3" x ring. This range has some light wind days with some wind protection so as one of the guys says it becomes a trigger pulling contest. I had my head handed to me when I traveled and found out what conditions the rest of you guys shoot in. But I did learn a lot. The 6BRX allowed me to develop my shooting skills with a very accurate cartridge where I didn't have to worry about the gun just all of my basic rifle, bag, and trigger handling skills. Now I have to work on the wind reading skills.

Read the old John708 post here on this sight if you want to hear about the 6mmBRX. John Skowron is about to complete the life cycle of a second 6mmBRX with a Broughton barrel. It has been so good he is preparing for his 4th 6mmBRX barreled rifle.
