6BRX, 80 gr. bullet

Has anyone used either 80 grain flat base or boat tail bullets in a benchrest 6BRX with a .104 free bore? If so, what type of accuracy did you achieve at 100, 200 and 300 yards? What barrel twist did you have? I have been using an 8 twist with 95 grain bullets but I believe that the 80 grain bullets may require a 12 twist. The 80 grain bullets are made on a .900 jacket.

I shot 6BRXs also. What is your reason for using the 80 at 1000. Seems to be against the norm of 105 to 110 ? With 106s I expect to shoot 5 shot groups at 100 around a flat .2 as often as not.

Not a BRX, but See ....Advice for first 6BR thread....page 2
FB Berger 80 and Tucker 68 FB shoot great in 12tw....80 gr fb will shoot .25 moa at 200.
I have 10tw that shoots 88's as Mike mentioned above really well! I've heard great reviews on Bart's 80 Dominator

Would really like to use flat base bullets at short range matches if I could improve accuracy verses less wind drift with the heavier boat tail bullets.
No it will not increase accuracy shooting a fb bullet. You are limiting the advantage of the BRX shooting a 80 gr.

I shoot the Bart’s Dominator in a standard BR with a .060 throat. The the junction of the boat tail and the shank is about 1/2 way in the neck.

The Bart’s Dominator is what I call a true short range Benchrest Bullet. It will agg at a sub .200 level. But at 300 yards and shorter, I can’t ascertain any wind bucking advantage over a regular 65/68 grn.
