6Bra with 90gr bt for 300yd

How small do you think you will need to shoot to be competitive at the tack driver showdown.

with the lv,hv and sporter records being an .18xx,28xx and 19xx ibs agg. records if .15xx agg. wins someone is gonna wish it was registered...

I am a PPC guy and shoot 500 yd groundhog matches with it. If conditions are pretty fair it's tough to beat. But in a 300 yd only match other than good conditions I would shoot one of my BRXs anytime. So, take one of each and evaluate conditions day of match and pick one.

I think you better be able to shoot in the .3s

I think that is what some shoot at 600 but you see more around a .500 groups at 600. Barrel quality and your ability to shoot in the same condition. And if it gets nasty it would be in your favor.
In all reality it is a stacked deck in favor of the short range guys and equipment, they give up nothing and it is a regular shoot for them. Take their sea of flags away and going back to the sighter and see what happens..... or limit the number of flags.... jim

i have seen Junebug shoot the 87 vlds from his 10 twist brdx that was like a lazerbeam at 300 and 400 in the Bluegrass Balloon Bust, I think he shoots rl15 but i aint sure.

Personally I think Cline and co. have done a great job makeing the shoot fair, I have shot a ppc and 30 dasher in competition out to 400 yards for decades, I agree with Jeff both are tough in good conditions but that is a stretch for both in breezy conditions. A 17 lb. gun has an advantage over a 10.5 or 13.5 as far as the flags that's on the shooter theirs no B class in benchrest.

So, I think the weight limit is 22lbs? Are you saying go with a well tuned 17lb gun? I ask because I have read that a well tuned 17lb bra will shoot in the 1s and zeros shirt range.

The best shooters that I've ever actually seen shoot at 300yds used similar approaches. One uses a 8 twist 6bra with 108 bergers and varget, and the other shooter who seems to always be the one to beat at 300 yds uses a 10twist 6br, 90gr Bergers, and 4895. JME WD

It will certainly be interesting to see how this plays out. I shoot at a local 300 yard shoot and have seen 6br, 30br, and 6ppcs win but some of the most impressive shooting has been from 10 and 12 twist 6br rifles.

Something I take in to consideration is that when I started shooting benchrest about 25 yrs ago I would see 2 or 3 matches a year with what I consider bad conditions. The last 4 or 5 years there are 2 or 3 matches a year, maybe, with good conditions. Hard to beat that high bc 3000fps 6mm bullet at 300 yd in switching 8 to 15 mph winds, or higher. It is going to be interesting to see an honest equipment list of the top 20. I hope they have one and put it on here.
