Here's the low down for today's 600 yard match. We shoot 600 yards every 3rd Saturday for score only. My 6 BRA with Bart's and H4895 shot accurately today but I found a way to mess up what could have been a good day. We shoot 4, 5-shot targets . Today we had 40 shooters shooting three classes: Custom, Factory, and Tactical. On the third target, we had a major switch in the wind and some fools like me got caught. I finished fourth in the custom class and was only 1 X out of third. Did I mention that it was HOT today with heavy mirage. Doug Wasson shooting his magical DASHER was in first place and Jeff Turner was second with his DASHER. The BRA's are steadily gaining ground but until Doug wears out that magical Krieger, we BRA shooters have an uphill struggle. Good shooting.....James

I don't need a long list, just the target's. My smallest 5 shot group-BRA. My smallest 10 shot group-BRA. My best 6 match aggs in LG-BRA. My best 10 match aggs in LG-BRA. My best 6 match aggs in HG-BRA. My best 10 match aggs in HG-BRA. It is obvious to me, when I compare myself with myself using the same stocks, triggers, bullets etc....

I am not a big fan of "inherent" accuracy, but if I had to choose one chambering over the other, I believe that the BRA would edge out the Dasher in terms of pure accuracy. Individual barrels have their own accuracy parameters, but those shooters like Tom and Bart who have extensive experience with both chamberings should be listened to. Good shooting....James

Out of curiosity, how many different lots of H4895 are the BRA shooters going through before finding “the lot”?

Some seem to have had some lots that didnt shoot. But of the guys I talk to on a regular basis none have had any issue and they have multiple lots. Just out of the local guys theres at least 3-4 different lots and all shoot small. I do not discount reports of bad shooting lots, I personally have not seen it first hand at deep creek. I did have a hell of a time with a dasher barrel and Varget lots about 6-7 years ago though so poor shooting lots of powder are a real thing. Out of my customers I can think of one guy that had a verified bad lot. I'd say its not that common.

I just bought some H4895. Loaded 4 rounds of my old stuff and 4 with the new both with 30.6. The old lot Chronographed at 2966. The new lot avg 3003. Can't say if it's better or worse yet. But it is hotter!
