6BRA Varget load data?

That's one to be proud of, Ben!
Nice shootin, considering we had Ten MOA windage cranked in, and not a single flag on the range!
I'm glad you ran to the shed, and joined the IBS after that! Haha
His buddy help him with that decision I couldn't keep them in the middle he was doing a fine job of that so I encourage him to do that so he would get something out of his competitiveness he deserves everything thing he gets fine job Ben looking forward to shoot with you again soon.

Thank you Stan Taylor!

I just did some load testing today. I found a flat spot at 32.4-32.6 grains of varget with 107s. This put me at 3000 fps. I’ll finish test tomorrow and let you all know. I also seen a lower node, but I’m not interested in that one unless this load isn’t 1/2 moa consistently. This will be good enough for me as it’s a PRS gun.

I'll throw in mine too. 27" Chanlynn 8 twister (left hand of course)
104 freebore, 105 Hybrids -.015, 30.6 H-4895, BR4 primers. es 6
Tracks 2977 fps out to 850. Super happy with it so far.
Fought it for a bit in the begining, but it's money now.

Did my first load test this weekend with Varget using the Eric Cortina method. 105 hybrids, 205M primers, -0.010 off. Here’s the results

To understand my shorthand, average FPS of the 3 shots on the left, charge weight on top, vertical distance of group center from POA on right.

Looks like there are nodes between 1-2 and 4-5.

My question is I’m not seeing the speed some of you guys are at similar loads. I’m using a pro chrono so I have to factor something for MV vs. 15’ down range, but that doesn’t explain it (or does it?).

I never got any resistance on bolt lift, however, I did start to see some ejector marks at 31.4

What do you think? If the Varget vs. H4895 battle plays out like it has with my .308 loads, I may end up finding H4895 is better, producing higher speeds with less powder and less pressure

What chamber are testing.

Nature boy
I'm doing some testing the same as you. I did a ladder and stopped at 32.0 Varget with no bolt click. I thought I found a node at 31.4 but I am going to re visit the ladder until I get click and see if there is a better node.
I'm following Don

ps 2.750 is the measurement from ogive to head not fps.

interesting

Your node would be the I would avoid like the plague in my rifle.

I think I’ll take 30.6, do some seating tests then take it to 500 and see what 20 rounds look like.

After that I’ll repeat with H4895 and see which it better.

In my bartlein 5r, 31.6 of varget with 205s was at 2980, I seated the bullet in the case farther and shot it again a couple weeks later, and it was 2950 but better grouping. I didnt revisit powder after the seating change, which I intend to before the World Open, because I have just a touch more vertical in my groups at 1k than I would like to see.
