6BRA Varget load data?

The biggest problem I found with Varget is lot to lot changes. You get a lot that shoots great, when it runs out you get an other and you set at the same speeding it will not shoot. The next lot you can't get to the velocity due to pressure. That is the reason I gave up on it, it has to be able to repeat lot to lot. If you can shoot .1 groups and they repeat, then open the next jug up from a different lot and see if it will do the same....... I bet not....... jim

that's why I buy 4kg lots of it . lasts about a year or more

FYI...Tested 32.0 gr. of Varget yesterday with Bart's 105's. 2940 fps on a cool morning. Little vertical at 600 but the wind was brutal for getting a feel for the horizontal. Loading 45 of them to try in the IBS match tomorrow. Kind of surprised at such a low velocity with a 28" bbl. That's about the same as my 108 Bergers with 31.1 gr. of H4895. MUST use 450's as the 400's blank. BR4's do work but offer no change I can see.

It was in the 50's temperature wise yesterday. Not sure what affect that had on the velocities. You asked, I answered.
I’ve found the same with primers so far.. 400s gave best groups but pierced with 31gns 4895, 450s are better than BR4s in my gun..It was recommended to me to have firing pin looked at to cure the piercing which I’ll be looking into..

I found an accurate load with Varget (31.6 gr, 105 Bart Infinity, CCI 400). I seated the bullets ~.005 into the lands from just touching. I have not had a chance to chronograph yet and withhold judgement until I do. Until I can quit dodging tornadoes I will just batten down the hatches. Good shooting....James
Hey James, Here's to your great and continued success at dodging tornadoes.

My last tests with a newer bra barrel and Varget are very close. 31.8 Varget, 103 vt, cci400, jam .005. Also no velocity. Getting too lazy to even set up the Lab Radar:( 3 shot group at 600 yards had NO vertical, less than 1/8". To me NO vertical is always a good thing. Will be checking 31.7, 31.8 and 31.9 this weekend. Steve

I'm in the very early stages of testing with RL15, which I consider equivalent to Varget.

Promising results with 31.8 to 32.0 gr RL15, CCI 450, and Berger 108BT jumping 0.005" from touch. Clocking 2920 fps from 28" barrel with 200 rounds. Next round of testing will be for seating depth at 31.9 gr RL15.

It is between tornadoes and I chronographed the two loads (30.6 H4895 & 31.6 Varget) with my old Oehler 35. The 3-shot accuracy at 100 yards was very good with both powders and the 105 Bart Infinity seated ~.005 into the lands. The H4895 load registered 2908 fps at 10 feet and the Varget was 2918 fps (with a SD of 2). I am not too confident that the old chronograph is spot on but it will give me a comparison. I have decided to use the Varget load in our April 600 yard match.

We'll Ben I am a little undecided to go with a 6mmbr blitzen or 6mmbr BRA version here is pics of my 6.5x47 lapua heavy gun 3 shot groups with 2 different lots of 140 hybrid an a 3 shot group of 103 vapor trail early production with th 6mmbr blitzen.PS the blitzen is the second case from the right. The groups were shot at 300yds.
