Remember that virtually all Hodgdon powder is made in Australia by ADI.
Sold there in 1Kg or 4Kg with a few varieties of powder still in 500gram bottles {1lb = 454 grams}…
I suspect that Hodgdon is just bringing it in already bottled up rather than bulk and loading their own 8lb bottles.
The USA is the world’s last hold out to the Imperial measurement system and even the military went metric in the late 50’s so anyone that has been in the service should be familiar with metric measurement…
Even England started to move to metric in 1965 and now about the only Imperial measurements are for liquid measuring of alcoholic drinks….. You can still buy a Pint…
One English Pint = US 20 floz
Their liquid measurements are different to the USA though “The pound is a pound the world around…”
