6br with CFE223

Has anyone here tried CFE223 in their 6br? I'm using leverevolution right now but I have a pound of CFE223. I figured I'd give it a try.

On a second note is quickload ever going to add leverevolution or superformance to their powder list?

I've tried it the 6.5X47 & got hang fires even with the 450 primers, so I would imaged the 6BR case would be similar. I believe the problem comes from the small flash hole. Try it for yourself & post results.

I talked to Steve Blair (sleepygator) on here several years ago about powder for 6br and 105 weight bullets. He told me H4895. I never tried it, haven't shot that rifle YET. If I shot it tomorrow that's the powder I would try, Q.L. shows good load data on it.

Kris,

I tried it in my 8-twist ratchet rifled Shilen and got pretty good results. I was shooting an 80 grain flat base berger varmint bullet and CCI 450 primers. This was very early in my learning curve with the 6BR; I found in my gun (YMMV) it didn't seem to matter much which powder I used (Varget, BenchMark, 8208 XBR, and others). All seemed to shoot well after a little load development. Best results came from "jamming" the 80s so that all rounds were essentially the same OAL (the 80s could be off in length by up to 0.015 IIRC). HTH

I've shot 32gr. behind 107 SMK in my DASHER, for breaking in the barrel thus reducing copper by far. Didn't test for accuracy though 1/2 moa with no rear bag. Used cci br4 without issue,, should work fine,, Hodgon site has reloading data for that powder and the 6 Dasher so it should work good in the BR. Don't try 32gr though,, look up the data yourself. I tend to just stomp the throttle down within reasonable limits.LOL

This is what QL spit out.
This is an old thread, but it pertains to information I am trying to obtain. ^^^
This QL example is, 105 grn bullet in Straight 6mmBR.
33.5 grns CFE223=58,740psi Pressure, 2,991 FPS MV, COAL 2.472 (guessing this is “touch” or slightly in the lands??. The case can easily handle this amount of CFE223 and is not at 100% with desired bullet seating.

I can do pressure testing safely, staring low and working up. All of the published data for CFE 223 in the 6mmBR is “EXTREMELY CONSERVATIVE“. It certainly can do better than 2,600 FPS.

I’m hoping there are those out there who can confirm or deny the accuracy of this QL load, or offer their experience or suggestions. Interested in Benchrest performance at 600 and 1,000 yards.

Thanks in advance:)

NOPE !!. In doing a pressure test in My 6mmBR with 105 Hybd at hard jam, I got stiff bolt lift at 30.8 grains of CFE223. I’m calling 30.6 grains of CFE223 in My 6mmBR, MAX Load.

So, I don’t know what it was that QL “spit out” ???

I will be trying 30.6 grains of CFE223, with 105 Berger Hybds, .018” OTL, in My 6mmBR in a Match next weekend.

Any comments or experiences are gratefully welcome.

Thanks in advance :)
