6BR to 6 Dasher or 6 BRX

Can I take my existing 6br and go back in with a BRX or Dasher reamer or would I have to set the barrel back. Next which one would be better. I shoot the 105 Berger Hybrids out of a 24" 1/8 twist barrel

You could just go in with either......
But if the barrel is used and has erosion, then set-back like bsumoba suggests is my advise also.

I look at the Dasher and BRX to be basically equal to capability and accuracy.
Does seem like a little more velocity can be had from the 40-degree shouldered Dasher before over pressured.

Thanks for the info. Its only has about 400 thru it. Kinda pushing it hard to get 2850 fps with 8208 XBR. Thats why I thought about the BRX. Also Its a Proof Research wrapped barrel. Setting back is not really an option.

One thing you may want to consider is, the fact the 6BR reamer OAL is usually .010 to .015 over a new piece of Lapua (brass roughly 1.555") The newly formed BRX reamer OAL should be reduced accordingly to allow for the brass that will shrink and form to about 1.544.

Too much space in front of the brass neck will cause a carbon ring to develop very quickly. My experience is it will grow there very aggressively first before it grows excessively in the throat area.

Not sure why anyone would order a BRX or Dasher reamer with the same OAL as the parent case of the 6BR.

Just my .02¢ worth.

One advantage of the BRX is that you can use your current BR dies. I am on my third barrel after 4 years of shooting a BRX, still using the original 200 cases I made for the first barrel. I do anneal but have never had to run the cases in a full 308 body die to resize that last bit of case at the base.

My first BRX was just punched, shot great. I have had 5 BRX barrels, all shoot great. It is a flip of a coin between BRX and Dasher, both are great.
