6br Single Shot or Repeater? ...and WTB

I am looking to purchase a 6br, and I am killing myself trying to decide if I want a single shot or repeater. I will be using the rifle for targets and varmints. Never owning a single shot, I wonder how much accuracy is really gained. Also, I question if I will be pissed, not having a repeater) when I miss a coyote on the first shot.....hardly happens.....right.:p

I am also looking to buy a used one if it is semi-custom,Barrel, trued and timed....)If anyone knows of one for sale. Not really looking for a heavy full blown bench gun, and I am leaning towards repeater, but may go single shot as a repeater seems to be very rare on this site.

If I can't find a semi-custom for sale, I may just grab a new Savage LRPV.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I just bought a Savage 12 LRPV in 6mmbr single shot and really like it. But 2 things it is not . . . 1. Not a benchrest rifle, although you could squeeze .3 moa out of it you will most likely never compete in benchrest and 2. Not a coyote rifle unless you are King Kong. Just to heavy to carry on a hunt. Just my take.

If it's a 6BR repeater you want and you have a Rem 700 SA check out Gary Eliseo's R5. You can find it from the home page under "Gun of the week".

6BR repeaters can have feeding problems from a magazine. Several years ago, a gunsmith wrote an article with pics showing how to alter the box on a Rem 700. I am unable to locate that article now. Perhaps someone else can guide you on where to find it.

Have you considered a AR based 6BR. Working mags are now available and you could have 5 rds. in a mag for those quick follow up shots. I have a Dtech built 6BR that is very accurate even on the F class target at 600 yds. For varmints I use the lighter bullets.

When shooting pairie dogs I always shoot it single shot now. I have used it with the mag and it was fun but the tube gets hot faster.
