6BR Right Bolt Left Port Question

Seeing a lot (actually most) factory 6BR's listed with a right bolt, left port as opposed to the traditional bolt and port on the same side. Is there a significant benefit to this configuration where the bolt and port are on opposing sides?

I shoot lefty but prefer right hand bolts for shooting from the bench. It's much easier to load and it's safer because I can easily see into the chamber from my sitting position. However, I'm not competing so rapid reloading isn't an issue.

I also prefer the rt bolt/port for shooting prone in the groundhog fields.

It’s a speed thing mostly. You’re able to load from the left with one hand, while the other opens and closes the bolt.

maybe a quick video will help with visualizing how that works:

I never had the benefit of a RBLP until very recently. I prefer and mount my scopes as close to the bore a clearance allows. That's always been ingrained in my mind. Closer = Better. If that scope is, as most or mine are, a biggun', it obstructs my view somewhat, So regarding RBLP. I'm like "Where have you been all my life?!"

Wish all my bolt action rifles were either RBLP or at the least, RBDP. Also, reducing the ejector spring strength in all my rifles, has become gospel. After all, I don't use them in a battle situation.
